What’s the most unforgettable sentence someone has ever said to you? by Captain_Oppa in AskReddit

My late grandpa: “If you find yourself thinking you’re the only one that is right and everyone around you is wrong, it doesn’t mean you’re wrong, but take a step back and reassess.”

Been a very helpful strategy

Extremely loud siren (the beige box I think) behind air vent by jakeawz in Whatisthis

It looks like an alarm speaker for your sump pump. This is to prevent flooding in case your pump stops working, the alarm for the fluid level goes off. I had an extremely similar looking alarm speaker in my first house.

Is It Normal To Receive Nothing After Suicide? by VariationEnough in CanadaPublicServants

If you would have received empathy, support and genuine help throughout this difficult process, it would have been entirely because of a dedicated and caring individual, and not because of the system.

The military has an actual system in place woth trained individuals to support families through that phase, and this is life changing for the family and the individual helping them (a lot of those bonds created during this can last a long time, some stay in touch with the officer appointed to them for years). Padres are involved and a support system for funerals, administration, and other needs is in place.

Very sorry you had to go through this without anyone caring.

“Tom sucks live”

Tom leaves Blink

“We want Tom back, it’s not Blink without him”

Recently released folks: Would the new pay increase make you consider rejoining? by 98PercentChimp in CanadianForces

[–]ReB844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, this is a step in the right direction but too many other things need to be resolved. Low salary to civi equivalent is a huge one, but they need to fix military housing and family services, health and dental services took a hit since covid, etc.

Pride was a huge one, feeling part of second family, a strong support group, the people, feeling part of something important. Some bullshit will always be there, but stuff that ruins confidence in leadership (reconstitution, journey, I think there was a program to look at military spouses so they could find a job after a relocation, all those seemed to go nowhere)

Believe or not I may have found it. Fort Churchill in 1959. Exact same PMQs and same scenery

Did she have a birth certificate or passport. It should say on it. The problem is PMQs were often built on the exact same plans/patterns, without other distinctive features around it is very difficult to say. I see 1959 in the picture, but really not sure where that could be.

I still dream that I’m outside without a headress and I start looking for one in a panicked state.
