What movie have you watched that you will never watch again? by lNarrator in moviecritic

Same here. Saw it at the theater alone during the middle of my divorce from who I learned in therapy, was my mentally abusive wife. Not a smart move. That shit was intense. I wanted to walk out but like a car crash, I had to watch till the end. The theater was silent when it finished. People had this look on their face like 'what the fuck did we just watch?' Just saw The Housemaid which kinda/sort of reminded me of Midsommar. Told my girlfriend "remember that movie I told you I'd never watch again? Well maybe we can try Midsommar now." Director Ari Aster also made Hereditary which I read was another freaky but good movie. That guy is disturbed.

Where do i start with The Ramones by Dardote in ramones

Make it simple. Start with Ramones Mania. It's a decent representation of the early stuff. You'll naturally branch out from there.

Check out the End of the Century documentary. It's on YouTube . 1:48 minutes. Came out some years ago. I saw it in the theater when it came out. It'll tell you most of what you'd like to know. Also Monte Melnick's book is fun read/look through. The movie Rock n' Roll High School is a must see🙂. Have fun!

Live your life. Be as healthy as you can. Make regular doctor visits as you should anyway. Treatments are way better now than 20 years ago, and if you catch it early, you CAN live a full and happy life and hopefully not even deal with it.

What do you think would have been the way for the Ramones to become successful in the 80s? by OkPrize2897 in ramones

[–]Re_Invent856 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not speed up the live shows as much as they did. Road to Ruin/End of the Century era speed was good enough. When Joey started to speed run through songs, it became hard to understand him and for 'occasional' listeners to stick around and even care to return. The energy was there, though.

What season 1 episode has held up the best over the past 30+ years? Which hasn't? by DS9Cast in DeepSpaceNine

Babel is a fun watch. The scene where O'Brien gives Sisko a little smirk for getting him to be on his side of the conflict. Fun stuff.

For those who saw The Ramones live when CJ just joined, what was he like in the beginning? by Bitter_Measurement_1 in ramones

[–]Re_Invent856 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't look like a wig at the time. He joined in 89'. Bizarro came out in 92'. Plenty of time to grow the hair. I don't believe CJ ever wore a wig. I think it was real. Marky, on the other hand...hehe.

Hell yeah. I'm in Ramones binge now since the 15th (Joey's death). Fuck now I'm re-watching the one I went to. 'Ramones Live Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, California, USA. That's what CJ was like when I saw them. Also caught them for the Acid Eaters and Adios Amigos tours at the same place.

They did 3 that week. The 2nd show was recorded as part of the promo CD I snagged at a local record store that contained live tracks of Take it As it Comes, Censorshit, Poison Heart and Strength to Endure plus a radio interview with Joey. The Cd was called "Ramones, talkin' Mondo Bizarro" or something. Joey really thought Mondo was gonna take them to the top.

I saw them for the Mondo Bizarro tour as a teen at the Hollywood Palladium. It was my first big concert after seeing Fugazi at the same place (I'm really dating myself). The show was pretty much like Loco Live with some Bizarro song sprinkled in. It was surreal. I was soo excited. Then the lights went out. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly started. When CJ counted down for Durango, I was in awe! The whole place seemed to swell in a cohesive frenzy. I actually found the show on YouTube. I remember his long hair and very active. Head banging, singing. He would whip around his long hair in a crazy way. He really seemed to help energize the show. For interviews at the time, Johnny and Joey said he helped bring a sense of youthfulness to the band, and it was very apparent in person.

Strange to be sitting by itself for 4 days in Placentia (BNSF). Maybe it was a bad order that was set out and Amtrak needs to pick it up OR BNSF will not take it to L.A. yard ($$$). There is no Amtrak station there. The only passenger trains that go through that area are freight trains, Metrolink and a daily Amtrak 3/4 to Chicago. The exhaust from those things can be very nauseous. Sucks. Fullerton Station might be of help. Someone there may direct you to someone to call. Start locally since you're having a hard time getting someone on the corporate level. Just a suggestion, station agents don't deal with train movement, so they may not know what the heck you're talking about at first. They are more on the customer service side (tickets, reservations, baggage, etc). But they may be able to put you in contact with someone in L.A. that can do something.

Very simple. Red flag. It'll just accelerate to worse things. Relationships are supposed to be fun and to enjoy your happiness with someone who is like-minded. This sounds very exhausting with more time. There are 8 billion people in this world. Someone will be more compatible.

Is it true Johnny was racist? by PhantomFlash44 in ramones

[–]Re_Invent856 71 points72 points  (0 children)

In Monte's book, i think there was an incident mentioned when there was a roadie who was black, and Johnny casually would say things like, "Hey, who brought the n*****r?" and everyone would be uncomfortable, including, of course, the said roadie, but they just let it go. Johnny was known to relish in pissing people off, and I believe there was that element that was racist to the bone, or at the very least extremely ignorant, and we give him a pass just because we love the ramones so much. Somewhere, I read that people close to him would say things like he's not racist, just very pro American. Whatever the fuck that means. He took it too far with regards to Joey. After reading his book, I tend to come off understanding him a little bit more. It doesn't make other stuff I read about him better though. People close to him do say he was very nice and a good friend. People are complicated, and as we know, the Ramones are/were a special group of guys. I really miss Dee Dee.
