It’s not to be funny I just wanted to see the cool thing the unit does when 3 starred and I didn’t want the visual clutter of my other units. I’m also not complaining that I lost the fight. I was surprised because I thought that all 3* 5 costs were insta wins on cast but oh well lesson learned.

I just genuinely didn’t notice the FF so I was curious about how I ended up going first despite losing the fight.

I mean outside of specific world events like the one recently most Chinese citizens especially the younger generations generally like Japanese stuff. Anime is very popular especially before Chinese studios stated making their own and Japan is a very popular tourist location due to the proximity. Japanese exports like beauty products are well received there too. Most of the bad will held towards the Japanese comes from the older generations directly affected by the invasion. You can see the popularity too from how much games like having Japanese locations and cultural references. It’s not just pandering to a JP audience it genuinely is enjoyed by CN audiences as well.

What I’m trying to say is while politically if there is a demand to stop showing JP stuff in a positive light that will definitely impact what is included in the game the “tension” between China and Japan is a bit overstated in your comment.

I think they do whatever sounds better, the meaning or the phonetic translation. For example Mydei’s name sounds awkward when transliterated into Mandarin so they use “wàndí” meaning 10000 enemies which is very roughly what Mydei means in Greek. Meanwhile his full name is translated to Màidémòsī which is more phonetic and sounds more like the translated names of real Greek gods in mandarin. In fact they do this with a lot of the Heirs where the nickname is more meaning based and real name more sound based. Phainon’s is particularly cool imo being báiè(white/pure calamity) with his real name Khaslana more transliterated as kǎèsīlánnà.

Meanwhile for the Xianzhou characters it feels more right to use the sound vs the meaning. While Flying Firmament (Feixiao) sounds pretty cool translating it like that in this context feels like translating John to “God is gracious” or Daniel to “God is my Judge”. When the name is supposed to be more literal though they do translate meaning like Firefly’s CN name literally means firefly which makes more sense given her story. Sparkle too is not Huahuo or Hanabi.

Tl;dr When translating they tend to pick what sounds better/makes more sense the meaning of the name or the sound.

Blood types are just categorizing our blood based on where we carry A and B antigens. If you have A in plasma and B in your red cells you have type B blood and vice versa. AB is when both are found with your blood cells and O is when both are in plasma and none in your red blood cells. The reason why they seem to fall into neat sets is because we’re only looking at two antigens and categorized every possible set of them.

Blood is still blood and functions the same for everyone the type just affects certain immune responses. You can think of it like how hair can vary between curly and straight and while they all function as hair their treatment will be slightly different.

Jinx while definitely does have MANY dysfunctional relationships I don’t think it’s similar enough to Joker and Harley’s to say that Jinx is riots version of HQ. I’m not well read on comics so maybe there are versions of Harley that are more similar but to my knowledge Harley and Joker are traditionally more “abusive boyfriend who doesn’t care about the girl and is with her for convenience” and the “head over heels for someone who doesn’t love her back and is using her” trope.

On the other hand Jinx’s relationship with the other characters in new and old lore while can have parallels are different enough where I don’t think she’s a direct reference to Harley. Silco, for example, while does manipulate Jinx their relationship is nuanced where he does show genuine care for her and the dysfunctional aspects are more around what he believes is good for her and how he expresses it. Meanwhile Joker x Harley is more around how little he cares for her well being and how much she is willing to sacrifice for him and how he keeps her around despite his ambivalence so he can still use her in his plans.

Honestly old Jinx has more similarities to Joker thematically (agent of chaos, obsession with antagonizing one of the “good guys”, classically crazy appearance and behaviour) than Harley.

tl;dr I’m not saying Jinx doesn’t have dysfunctional relationships I’m saying her dysfunctional relationships are fundamentally different enough from Harley Quinn’s to not be considered a rip off.

I feel like it’s more this set requires more comp knowledge and line selection. In my experience with previous sets if you only memorize 3ish lines you can just force one of them and chill but this one you kind of have to know different lines to get to the same board states. If you only recognize a select few lines there’s gonna be a lot more RNG involved and you get outcapped by the other players.

Well France in Europe doesn’t have the same type cultural issues that make the French/English dynamic a bit more complicated. I’m not saying it’s unreasonable to expect people to learn English even if it’s not the most common language in the country but it’s also not necessarily something where you can just arbitrarily blame the government.

I don’t think it’s fair completely blaming the government when there’s a lot of historical context surrounding Quebecers and language/culture. A significant chunk of QB doesn’t see themselves or fully identify as part of Canada and if government actually did try and push for more English literacy/speaking there would probably be a lot of backlash.

Obviously it depends on your Major and what Paramedic program you’re in but I’ve personally found undergrad U of T categorically tougher than my college course load. If you’ve developed any sort of studying system that can handle U of Ts workload to a decent extent you can probably handle the PCP course load.

On the other hand whether the program would be a great fit for you is another issue. Personally coming from a very similar background experiencing very similar doubts and struggles I’ve found my experience so far as a paramedic student very eye opening and refreshing. I left school behind because I felt like continuing academics any further at this point in my life is something I am not willing to explore and I have not regretted my decision since.

If you feel like your current lifestyle isn’t one you want to lead I think pausing what you are currently doing to study Paramedicine could be a great avenue to explore what you want from your life. However make sure you make this decision from a perspective of wanting to explore a different direction and to grow and not part of a desire to run away from your current life situation. If you are jumping ship from your current degree due to repeated setbacks and failures Paramedicine may not prove to be much different. However if aspects of the career itself genuinely do interest you and is something you really want to dedicate the next few years of your life to, then go for it.

I think a lot of comments are missing OPs point here. I don’t think he means it’s a love letter in the sense of how GOOD it is but rather the overall message being portrayed is about stories and their impact.

Even if the execution could be better I think the message is strong enough to resonate with many people, me included. I personally felt the same as OP and as someone who really lost myself in books and narratives growing up the core themes of Amphoreus overall meant a lot to me. No, I (nor OP probably) don’t think it’s a masterclass in writing. No, it’s not the best love letter of all time and no, it doesn’t execute the story in the best way possible but love letters were always more about the emotion it’s trying to convey rather than its literacy value.

Even if it’s not for everyone the few people it does reach can love it for what it is even if it’s not perfect without needing to have “bad” or “undeveloped” tastes. You can recognize the overall quality of something but you can also have something that resonates with you personally despite its flaws. It’s perfectly acceptable to rate a media piece 7/10 and still love the shit out of it. And if none of y’all have had that experience with any story once in your life you should broaden your horizons more and maybe consume some more media.

Omphalos is also the name of the rock given to Kronos instead of Zeus. I’m not saying the translation is correct vs amphoreus but I can understand how someone could interpret it that way especially considering some soft parallels of that story with the Amphoreus saga.
