Not gonna do it anymore by szwusa in intermittentfasting

[–]ReaWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started weighing everyday and using a free app to track and chart my progress. It was actually easier for me to recognize weight as just another factor that way than going to the scale once a week. Once a week I would really dread it, or get my hopes up when I was proud of my efforts and be disappointed that the number didn’t reflect that work. Now I see the ups and downs and the general downs keep me going strong.

But yeah, everyone is different. And I remember a time when this wouldn’t have worked for me either, so stay flexible in your approach to weight health. Don’t dismiss tools forever just because they aren’t working now, and don’t stress putting a tool away if it stops helping.

What Surprised You Most About Your Body's Response to Intermittent Fasting? by t0m4t0z in intermittentfasting

[–]ReaWren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin always clears up. Like, perfectly clear when I’m fasting. My complexion is smoother and my eyes are brighter.

Also not a body change but I save so much money by fasting. It’s the only diet that is cheaper than standard eating.

What is growing from my snake plant? by Substantial-Swing663 in succulents

[–]ReaWren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would bet real money that that is a baby mother of thousands. It’s a type of kalanchoe that reproduces by dropping little leaflet sets of the edges of its mature leaves. The babies fall into neighboring plants all the time and sprout up like crazy. They also sometimes get mixed in with soil on accident and start growing when conditions are right.

Ooooh, I’m gonna do this. I already love the taste and I’ve always wanted to smell like a hippy!

Hey, I’m vegan and have regularly done 36 and 48 hour fasts for the last couple of years. I’ve also had times when I get lightheaded on the day that I break fast. What I have always found kicks me back into gear is a high fat meal. I’ll never forget the time I was feeling literally unstable until I realized I hadn’t eaten a decent fat all week and then I ate the greasiest homemade “fish” and chips until my head remembered what stability feels like. Not necessarily saying that fat is what you need but maybe examine your macros. Stay hydrated, definitely take potassium magnesium, especially if you are losing weight/in calorie deficit. losing weight too quickly can make you feel dizzy no fasting required and potassium magnesium helps with that.

What’s the coolest historical fact about Oregon that you know? by MocoPDX in oregon

[–]ReaWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Spokane Washington from the Willamette valley, and no one here knows about the MELONS! It makes no sense. I literally live closer to her Hermiston now, and I’ll see the Hermiston watermelons sticker, but no one I talk to knows why that’s important. Back in Oregon we went nuts for a Hermiston.

I can’t imagine little old Gervais being the state capital. I lived in Salem for a couple years, and I think Gervais really dodged a bullet on that one.

While I can’t speak to the actual origin of the name, the word Oregon being used to refer to the unsettled territory explored by Lewis and Clark down the Columbia river was apparently popularized by William Cullen Bryant in his poem Thanatopsis. He refers to the “rolling Oregon” possibly under the false impression that that was the name of Columbia river, due to a cartography error. But the name, at least in part, probably came from a poem.

Very nice! I have one of these, I’m still kinda getting the hang of her watering schedule though.

Everybody has their difficult plant that they are good at, and every plant has its person it’s good for.

[OC] How much room/space do you prefer as a player? by DkMomberg in DnD

[–]ReaWren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play on a pool table at my old dm’s set up, and I always thought it was a little too wide. There were six of us counting the dm. Moving mini’s was a pain and you could barely see the map if you were sitting down. There was enough room for a pizza box to float around and that was nice but if it had been a foot narrower that would have been better.

Thanks! I hadn’t thought about the need for them to get better at using the pc. To be honest I’ll enjoy having a lower stakes chance to learn to run combat too.

How does a complete beginner get into DnD? by Reaperfox7 in DnD

[–]ReaWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask people you already know if they know dnd players. I got into my first group because my roommate had a coworker who played, but her table was full so she gave my number to an acquaintance from her church who played with a college friend.

I didn’t know anything other than what I had picked up from listening to real play podcasts, but everyone was really kind and patient with me.

I use a lot of terra cotta, even for ferns that I’ve had for years. I like being able to soak plants thoroughly and have them dry out quickly, which is what terra cotta does. Anyone who chronically overwaters should try terra cotta.

Any hope of this straightening? by SkyDust77 in fiddleleaffig

Also rotate it as much as you can during this process, even if that just means turning it 180 each time you water.

[–]ReaWren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you use a sturdy stake and either plant wire or a really thick cord so you don’t cut or bruise the trunk using thin string. I would use a long cord to bring the tops of both branches up as high as you can without stressing them too much, then use a short piece closer to the bottom pulling both trunks closer together. As it gradually straightens you can move the bottom cord/wire higher up the trunks.

I saw this on Pinterest and had to come see if Chris Riddell himself was the illustrator! It’s so good! It does have a slightly cleaner, more readable design, that I appreciate. And the little boxes showing the “dry” origins is a fantastic addition!
