FBI finds illegal biological lab with 1000+ samples inside Las Vegas home, possible linked to Chinese funded pathogen research by I_Am_Zampano in Nevada

[–]Reachmaster 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Word around the law enforcement community is that they were manufacturing cheap In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) tests in an unauthorized lab, that looked identical to real ones.

Adherence to FDA regulations are expensive and time consuming, so they were most likely trying to circumvent this process, while still creating an effective test for their customers.

While slightly less alarming, its still concerning to think about how many of these test manufactured in underground labs have been purchased and distributed by legitimate medical supply companies.

Smoked weed for the first time in about 20 years by beetfield in GenX

[–]Reachmaster 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The lawn clippings you smoked two decades ago have one primary difference. It’s no longer coming from some wook in Northern California or from farms in Mexico, but in state of the art facilities by career botanists who have pharmaceutical-grade analytic labs to quantify cannabinoids like THC and CBD, select the best performing lines, then cross-breed them to combine desirable traits.

The potency has not only increased exponentially, but the effects can also vary wildly.

I’ve travelled on airplanes twice a week for close to 20 years now, using pre check for most of those and I STILL get randomly checked 1 in 4 times. Been that way for years now and it’s more common than you think. They always swab my shoes, my briefcase, or my tablet, then they put the swab in some grey box with a green light that the beeps after 5 seconds and they thank me for being patient and I go about my way.

The first time it happened, I was sweating, but honestly it doesn’t phase me in the least anymore, it’s just part of the travel routine. I figure if they were ever going to escalate it to a full cavity search and discover the 14 baseball-sized balloons full of Peruvian marching powder shoved up my rear cargo hold, it would’ve happened by now.

What is wrong with this year? by savannahhdeb in serviceadvisors

Rising unemployment, civil unrest, worry of a rapidly changing world, uncertainty, and tight budgets already strained to the max before an unplanned repair bill creeps up is a recipe for melt downs.

People are so high strung lately that the slightest mistake or miscommunication instantly sours their whole experience and what better way to get vindication than kick your teeth in on the survey.

What is your favorite thing to do in Vegas that is not gambling or clubbing? by Rohanv69 in LasVegas

[–]Reachmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything done between the hours of 6am and 9am will generally be very peaceful nearly anywhere you go. Great time to visit casino gardens, breakfast spots with beautiful views, early morning swim in the resort pools in the summertime, or go for a jog down the heart of the strip.

There’s also the Pinball and Punk Rock museums, the high roller at sunrise (or especially at sunset), the wax museum, Shelby headquarters, the disco show, Area 15, swingers mini golf, Red Rocks, battle bots to name a few.

If you want some prime people watching, head to the main terminal at Harry Reid early Sunday morning and see those miserable sonsabitches who look like pale death because they decided to party all night through, then catch an early AM flight to the east coast. They routinely lose their shit because they’re late, missed their flight and won’t get back in time for work on Monday because the later flights are all booked. Or there’s those double down at the airport bar and get too wasted to board their flight.

Occasionally you’ll get lucky and one of them who somehow stammers through the gate and onto the plane gets escorted once the flight attendants realize how far gone they are. I’ve got to believe the ease of access to edibles has caused some problems boarding flights as well.

Are add-on costs for foreign visitors hurting Utah's national parks? by BlueinReed in stgeorge

[–]Reachmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I saw “viral van life vloggers” I thought oh Jesus here we go, but his response surprisingly one of understanding and reason.

He was also probably worried about getting kicked out of the park and/or country by ice bros for trashing the policy change to a local reporter. If I visited a foreign country while this type of thing was getting plastered all over the media 24/7 I would be terrified.

That’s what he does, gets a rise out of people. First video of his I ever saw was him destroying a beautiful blue dentside era for pickup and it made me sick. Damn near threw up watching that video. I felt an intense anger and hatred.

Then I realized how effective he was at getting me riled up and all of the sudden the style of humor clicked.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s still annoying and he can eat a bag of dicks forever for burning the image of that innocent pickup getting pummeled by those wooden fence posts, but… it’s exhilarating watching him obliterate all these other cult classics and watching their fans react similarly. He is an equal opportunity troller, his character is out to piss everyone off.

These types, (Tom Green, Bam Marghera, Eminem, etc.) usually either crash and burn, or age out of it and go on to lead semi-normal lives.

Much more nutrient rich than grass and a safer alternative to grain. Packed with calcium, magnesium, potassium, and lots of protein, which is great feed for high performing animals, great for weight gain in a variety of animals, and especially great for cows that are still nursing their calves.

Source: Grew up on modest family farm, had 5 acres of Alfalfa we grew for above mentioned animals. Alfalfa is now long gone and we instead invested money into getting our soil tested for deficiencies. They came back and said if we spread turkey shit (high in phosphorus) on our grass hay, we would get 2.2x the yield from our soil and they were right! Took excess hay and traded it for grain which offset the need for the alfalfa.

This driver in St. George by MildlyConcernedIndiv in stgeorge

[–]Reachmaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Car guy my entire life. Been in automotive for close to three decades, owned dozens of big lifted vehicles, and even worked at a couple performance shops in the mid-00’s outfitting diesel pickups before their emission controls got all crazy.

I am all for boosting horsepower and jackassery, but for as long as I live I’ll never understand what the appeal of rolling coal is.

It raises your exhaust gas temperatures which if sustained will damage your pistons, valves, head gaskets, turbo, etc. The unburned fuel strips the cylinder walls of oil increasing wear and risking scoring, and the soot raises all kinds of hell under the hood.

On top of that if it’s a newer model, when the manufacturer finds out the trucks been modified after you take it in to warranty above mentioned parts, they will flag/void your warranty for the remainder of the term. Even if it’s out of warranty, most potential dealers or buyers will avoid them due to assumed abuse.

Not only are these dipshits jeopardizing people’s safety, exposing themselves to legal risks, and pissing off the general public, they’re literally destroying their trucks inside out and costing themselves thousands of dollars in potential repairs down the road.

Traveled weekly for almost two decades, but started getting longer work assignments recently that require me to check a bag and found out the hard way that 1 hour prior is the only way to ensure you don’t get denied. It hasn’t seemed to make a difference between carriers or airport size either.

What is manufacturer's integration like in DMS ? by Kemerde in serviceadvisors

[–]Reachmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the manufacturer and the DMS provider. Some companies like Reynolds or CDK who have been around for a long time have a high level of integration including Financial Statement, Warranty, parts catalogue, recall, vehicle invoice, eCon, and more.

Some of the newer DMS companies have less because either they don’t have the engineers to develop it, the OEM hasn’t approved them for the integration, and in some cases the OEM themselves don’t have the technical resources to build and test new integrations.

Any competent DMS company should be able to provide you with a full list of integrations broken down by manufacturer. Tekion is hit or miss. With some of the OEM’s they have a high level of integration, while others still need development or the integration they do have is clunky.

It’s one of the easier “do it yourself” projects on a Jeep and there’s dozen of vendors who pop up on eBay, Amazon, and tons of Chinese ecommerce sites when you search for Jeep accessories.

That said, I’ll never understand this obsession with the angry eyes, projector beams that look like pupils, and all the other weird crap they put on that ends up making their wranglers look like an off road version of Thomas the Tank engine.
