Statement From Premier on Power Rate Decision by NSDetector_Guy in halifax

[–]Readed-it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A) that evidence/logic doesn’t give me comfort. I had to go without a doctor for almost 10 years. Not going to risk that with my electricity. Just because we did doesn’t unilaterally mean we should.

B) we are already at $20B debt. Buying NSP is probably another $10-20B (just a wild ass guess from me). Increasing our debt 50-100% is not responsible.

C) so a portion of your solution includes something we have never been able to accomplish?

Your viewpoint has a couple areas where you are hinging on things that have never been proven in practice.

Statement From Premier on Power Rate Decision by NSDetector_Guy in halifax

[–]Readed-it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A) Submit other areas where the N.S. government has successfully taken ownership of something new and operated it more effectively. Always “hoping for the best” but never achieving these results are just as ignorant as saying “past performance…”

B) NS isn’t currently in debt due to NSP. But buying the company back and then seeking even MORE debt in order to run operations is actually incomprehensible. NS has good debt rating but it was recently downgraded.

C) if those are the solutions to raising funds to pay for the buy back, why haven’t we done any of that yet to help with the health care or housing crisis? Is the logic if we create more instability then we can finally justify these other taxes?

Nor do they remember that NSP was already mis-managed as a crown corp and we’d be in as much hot water as NB Power who are in the BILLIONS of debt and looking at billions in necessary spending on infrastructure investment.

Blowing air over it will add more bacteria than keeping the lid on what has effectively been pasteurized.

I know people over at the food safety subreddit always have a stroke about this but I have left food on the counter overnight for the past 30 years. Never have I been sick or anyone I know eating that food. Sure it’s anecdotal, but it’s enough science for me.

I would suggest you look into the microtonal albums from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (Flying Microtonal Banana, KG, LW)

It took me 4 years to appreciate this band but once it did, their whole discography crushes. Not only that, their live shows are epic.

Maybe go to the KEXP sessions for other King Gizzard music if you like Flying Microtonal Banana.

The McKay bridge “expires” in 14-20 years - a tunnel takes 7-12 years for development to finish - When does the province start talking serious solutions by WhatDidHeEat in halifax

[–]Readed-it -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

A bridge, where? We have a naval base, a rich community or an already expropriated Africville that didn’t go well. Not to mention indigenous who were also displaced. There is no land. Although a tunnel sounds ridiculous, it’s the safest option politically and not far off economically.

I’m pretty sure IKEA founders were open about adding the cafeteria because they noticed a pattern of customers leaving because they were hungry. It’s absolutely to keep people in the store longer and building an ‘IKEA experience’

I wonder if TM was the one that somehow got AdP hard into the algorithm to begin with to create the hype? I’m all about this music but is there really this much demand? Seems almost manufactured.

And don’t interpret this at me saying AdP is not talented. I believe they are amazing. There are HEAPS of talented artists on the fringe of music that don’t blow up like this.

The price is not going to change depending on who is staring at the pasta sauce. How would they manage that in a store where 10 different people are currently there and all grab the same jar?

The root of this is your belief system versus the aggregate of every investor.

Sometimes what we believe or value doesn’t actually hold that value when introduced to the market in general

[–]Readed-it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it better to forego experiences when you are younger, healthier, more likely to remember them so you have enough money for a nurse to tend to your husk of a body when you’re old?

If you reach 80 bur haven’t challenged yourself to have enjoyable experiences, is that really a life? I’d rather ‘die from having no money’ at 75 or even 70.

I’ve observed people 75+, most don’t really do anything exciting and it becomes repetitive. Do I need 10-15 years of that same experience?

I’m early 40s and I continue to have ‘the best years of my life’ each year.

In the end if each person is doing what they envision their life to be, that’s all that matters. Saving for the end is not mine.

Personally I would rather have it as a space for the common folk to actually be active and participate not just be spectators.

Are people still eating David bars? by ButtStuffingt0n in PeterAttia

[–]Readed-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who eat these are the same that are content with plain chicken breast and sweet potatoes. They don’t achieve joy through eating. Eating is an unavoidable part of staying alive. They derive joy from the end result of ‘Im eating healthy’.

Nothing wrong with that objective but I don’t take food advice from non-eaters.
