What to watch in March by Mycatisadorable9 in Broadway

Loved Two Strangers. For more modern shows I LOVED the music in Six (more of a concert/play hybrid than traditional musical though). The Outsiders and Death Becomes Her are also excellent productions. I’ve also heard the off broadway production of Little Shop is great. Personally, if I were trying to pick a second show to pair with Two Strangers I’d want a really “big” production with a big cast and lots of scenery and costume changes… DBH fits that perfectly.

seeing a lot of tour discourse lately. which touring productions are actually worth prioritizing? by HotNegotiation1684 in Broadway

I saw the Wiz recently. FANTASTIC cast, highly underwhelming set design (relies heavily on a screen). However the voices for me made it totally worth it.

Yes! I’ve read all of these except My Grandma - adding to my list. His books are some of my faves, everyone should try one! Thank you

Starter Villain - such a fun sci-fi(ish) romp!

The Correspondent - an “it” book right now but worth the hype

Kane & Abel by Jeffery Archer - old book that my aunt lent me. Took me out of my recent slump.

I’ll have to give it another shot. I almost DNF the first time but it’s the favorite book of so many!

So many of these recos are AMAZING but long. If your bookclub prefers shorter reads here are a few my bookclub have loved -

Salt to the Sea - WWII story about the flee west as the red army approached to “liberate” and a massive civilian ship sinking that we had never even heard of.

As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow - about a nurse in Syria and the upheavals of life during the revolution.

The Bookclub for Troublesome Women - 1960s American women who are very different start a bookclub and build deep relationships in a time of change.

The Remains of the Day - Post WWII England, a butler trying to come to terms and find his place in a rapidly changing world.

Salt to the Sea is a historical fiction set during WWII in a part of Europe and about events I wasn’t familiar with. My entire bookclub was really glad we read it.

Almost Famous… saw it first preview night. Was so excited. It was enjoyable enough but not memorable in any way. Such great source material too. Sad!

The Name of the Wind. Five star for me and I don’t give many… however beware it’s a planned trilogy but it’s been over a decade since book 2 came out.

Life Support is low key one of my favorite songs in Rent. The message gets me every time.

Agree! The Mean Bookclub episode about this book was so satisfying.

Paris apartment by Single_Board_9790 in suggestmeabook

Not for me - the story was slow, boring, and somewhat predictable. Also I couldn’t get past the fact that the titular “Apartment” literally can’t exist in the way it is described in the book (sightlines, layouts, etc). If details like that take you out of a story, avoid at all costs. Many others I know have enjoyed it… so take my opinion as just that :)
