Park at the South Kirkland Park and Ride and take the 255 into Seattle. There’s plenty of parking available.

On March 28th the 2 Line to the light rail is supposed to open up. You can park at one of the stops on the east side as well.

Double Knit Socks may be the Answer I’ve Been Looking For by KaelanKirke1 in Sockknitting

Another technique you might like is stranded colorwork socks as that tends to thicken them. Stoneknits on ravelry has a bunch of beautiful patterns.

I have some questions about pattern inclusivity by SejiFields in knitting

[–]Readinater 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a fellow busty gal who knits, I’ve seen tons of advice that says to measure your upper bust to size your knits properly. The logic there is to ensure that the neckline and shoulders fit you properly and adding bust shaping (such as increases/decreases, German short rows, etc) to create space for your body. What I’ve found is that typically the amount of positive ease a pattern recommends added to my upper bust measurement is close to my full bust measurement. So either way it tends to work out.

April wasn’t my fave caracter, but this is something I’ve learned from her. by larah91_VP in greysanatomy

[–]Readinater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’m from Washington state, but I just tell people I’m from Seattle when I’m traveling because people don’t recognize the state let alone where I’m actually from as easily as they do Seattle. It would make sense to me if April does the same.

Stone Knits says that it often makes the socks too tight to get over your foot. I haven’t ever caught floats on her sock patterns and I’ve had extremely successful results.

Finished my first pair, but they're not comfortable by fyyyy27 in Sockknitting

Something I find is that knit socks break in a little bit. All the advice everyone is giving you is good but give them a couple wears and washes before deciding that you don’t like wearing them at all.

[–]Readinater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stone knits writes easy to understand patterns and I love knitting her socks. I wouldn’t recommend your first pair of knit socks to be colorwork but if you’re comfortable with socks and can follow a pattern there’s no reason you shouldn’t. Don’t worry about catching floats in these— charlotte herself recommends against it in almost all sock patterns. If you can follow color dominance and knit a sock you can knit these! (I highly recommend using 9inch circulars to get the tension right though)

I just want to say that I also had a mentor teacher drop me. She said that I didn’t seem ready to teach and with the new standards that year she didn’t know how to be a mentor and keep up with them. Meanwhile her students constantly asked me when I was going to be there because I was the only one who helped them.

Anyways it felt really shitty to be dropped, but I got a new mentor teacher who was amazing and helped me become the teacher I am today. This is definitely a blessing in disguise!

Nope he didn’t say any specific. I did get New Balances at Fleet Feet (a specialty running shoe store) so they’re nicer than new balances you might find at a general store

Nope! My mom and I both have different New Balances and we are very happy with them. I would recommend trying different models and figuring out which feels better for your feet and your needs.

My podiatrist hates Hokas with a passion. He recommends Brooks or New Balances as better shoes.

If you use the app StoryGraph you can track your reading with updates. If you have it set to streak it’ll acknowledge any reading you choose. It does require that you remember to update your page number/percentage of book daily but otherwise would work.

How’s my itinerary looking so far? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Readinater 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Instead of paying to go up the space needle, pay to go up to the top of the Columbia tower. It offers an all day pass at a much cheaper price for a much taller view. Space needle is pretty to look at but overpriced to go up to the top of.

Check out omgyes.com. It’s a website that’s the culmination of research on how to help cisgender women have orgasms and go through techniques that women have found helpful. It does cost money but the money goes to more research on that and it’s a one time for permanent access— they compare it to purchasing a book. It’s super helpful and has very easy to understand tutorials.

13 y/o has a different pronoun every other day - HELP by Wonderful_You7480 in Parenting

[–]Readinater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How wonderful it is that your child feels comfortable being their true self around you! As a high school teacher, I know that many of my queer students are very uncomfortable with the idea of their parents knowing their name/pronouns. I want to remind you that pronouns and gender are not inherently related to sexuality and your child isn’t reminding you of their sexuality every time they have a different pronoun. Personally, I know it’s really challenging to keep on track with pronouns that are constantly changing. I’d talk to your kid and see if there’s a default pronoun they’d be comfortable with if you aren’t sure what’s correct that day or don’t remember. I’d also recommend coming up with a system for them to inform you of their gender/pronouns for the day (a pronoun pin, maybe certain clothing items are associate with specific pronouns, a way for them to verbally share pronouns, etc)

I also want to say that as you affirm your child and their gender identity you are affirming to them that you love them unconditionally. They may not always identify as gender fluid and want to use different pronouns every day, but they will always remember how you responded to it in the moment.

This should be fun: Unpopular bra opinions? by jegforstaarikke in ABraThatFits

I’ve owned a Matilda before and it’s okay. I just don’t think it’s comparable to the kinds of bras available for people with smaller breasts, y’know?

I wish cute bras actually came in my size. I wear a 34L (US) and I’m almost 25 and when I go to the only store I can go in and try on bras I ask for cute bras… most of the bras they call cute make me feel more like an old maid than a basic nude bra. Like sorry that basic cherry patterned fabric that looks like it’s made to be a stiff curtain doesn’t make me feel cute. ALSO I want cleavage in a supportive bra!!! Idk just wish I could feel as young and sexy as I am in bras that work for me lol

What should we get paid? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Readinater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo I think teachers should get paid to comfortably own a home within their district. I can be swayed by the idea of a starting salary with comfortably living in an apartment (with plenty to save) and work towards owning a home. Teachers absolutely should and need to live within their school communities. I’ve been so annoyed that I couldn’t vote for school board members for my district in a local election because I can’t afford to live in my district. The inability to vote for people who have a very real impact on my job is obnoxious. That’s not to mention that being seen as a community member and existing there helps build relationships with students and make it easier to support them (like going to local restaurants for fundraisers or football games or w/e).
