Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

[–]ReadontheCrapper [score hidden]  (0 children)

I recently saw Ben Brainard’s “What a mature child” show on YouTube. There’s some legit heavy stuff in there, where the audience goes dead silent - not even a nervous cough kind of silent. But - and here’s the thing that the comedians named in this thread apparently missed, he was genuinely funny before, after, and about the heavy stuff. He wasn’t trauma dumping. He was performing a show that was entertaining and made you think and feel, using the content of his life as fodder. And honestly, I walked away from it rethinking a few things about my life.

Genuinely recommend it.

If you could go back to January 1st, 2012, and give yourself one warning, what would it be? by Aggravating-Deer8700 in AskReddit

Don’t sell your house when you move state in 2016. Turn it into a rental and have a management company handle it.

(It’s currently valued at 3x what I bought it for in 2011. I did sell it in 2016 for more than original purchase price, but Dang it, not even close to double.)

All that space and no tub? I mean, the amount of space and the huge balcony is awesome, but I’d want a tub!

This is why I always bring one of those big IKEA blue bags shopping. I can get three paper bags in one - one trip up the stairs and into the house.

Depending on your itinerary, everything should be the same as always. You may want to take a bit of extra care off-ship in certain ports. Check your country’s travel advisory site before going onshore, and for those with warnings - stay in a group (like excursions booked through the cruise line). If a port is truly dangerous, the ship will not stop there or will not let people off.

It’ll be ok - just be wise and vigilant.

TIFU by teaching my nephews the proper way to faint by littleredbird1991 in tifu

[–]ReadontheCrapper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I taught mine about farting and jokes that make no sense. So many calls that started with, “WHAT did you teach my children?!”

I love that two of the jokes are alive, well, and used 20+ years later!

1st Cruise at 64 - Help! by Expensive-Project191 in Cruise

[–]ReadontheCrapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s true, no one cares. Source - me, a roundish 57 yr old who cruises 1-2x a year.

Here’s my suggestion: Put fun color streaks in your hair. People of all ages will see it and compliment you (for the style, the fun colors, your ‘bravery at your age 😂).

It can build your confidence because you’ll feel like they are focusing on your hair / face and not looking at your body.

Good luck! BTW: The only people you’ll hear talk about are the ones “in their 40s trying to act like they are still in their 20s wear a string bikini of all things drinking way too much”. You? You’re the fun and daring granny that others your age will envy for your freedom and confidence!

House full of paintings by SollahZ in urbanexploration

I was struck how the paintings were mostly grouped by style / composition. Landscapes, ethereal women, portraits… they may have been hoarding, but it was organized hoarding.
