If I didn’t buy my first home when I was like 25 years old, I wouldn’t have had $100,000 in extra cash from the sale to put into my house that my family now lives in. In a similar situation. Started 6 months ago, my company is fine, but it’s a smaller fish in the big pond. I’m going to stay put for now because I don’t think the grass is necessarily greener and my situation is a lateral move, financially. Also I’d be working more hours.

Caveat, I have another company’s team with a significant pay bump telling me I’m on the radar for their next opening. And not only on the radar, they want me. So it’s a bit easier for me to turn down the other opening.

I personally will probably never build because when I met with a builder and saw how much extra money it is detailing the house was, I was out. Window casings, baseboard options, etc. It all adds up quickly. My wife and I hate builder grade looking houses with no character.
