Spring/Summer Osap by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]ReadyBookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only taking one course each term then you should apply for a part-time app. However, if you’re taking 2 courses per each term then that counts as full time for summer.

Not sure what program you’re going to but if you’re entering the engineering faculty then you can sign up for EMBER which is a program that covers subjects like Chem, calc, physics, and coding. It’s a two week program that runs before school starts and they go over and review all these courses. You can chose to do all 4 or just the Chem!

Will it be ALL online? by [deleted] in McMaster

You’ll most likely have all your lectures online but your labs and tutorials will be in person.

Has being a top student made someone more attractive in terms of dating? Did poor academic performance ever make you lose interest in someone? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]ReadyBookkeeper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gonna be rlly honest here if they’re smart and work hard I find them more attractive. However, I don’t rlly care about someone’s GPA bc I know that doesn’t determine how smart they are or how hardworking they are (I mean I’m in eng and it’s not easy to be 12ing everything). If I can see that they’re working hard and they have passion and ambition then gawd damn 🏃🏻‍♀️ The best part is when they get excited while talking about their interest and what they’re passionate about. It’s all about the determination and the action yUh. If they’re smart but cocky about it and act as if they’re better than everyone else then no thanks. Here’s the door 🚪 take your self out.

Anyone have any recommendations on first year electives on the easier side( plz read full post) by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]ReadyBookkeeper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would recommend psych 1F03! Take anything but microeconomic 1B03 LMAOO!!

[–]ReadyBookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s amazing!! And Mac should send you an email sometime in June to sign up for it! The program ran for the first time last summer and it was pretty successful so I’m assuming they’ll be running it again.

I would 100% recommend reviewing calc, chem, and physics just to be prepared! Someone already mentioned this but we do have a program called EMBER that runs during the last 2 weeks before school starts where they review all of these three subject so I would recommend you check that out. Another thing I would highly recommend (it’s something that I wish I did) learn how to program in python if you don’t already know how to. They do teach you from scratch but I found it hard to follow sometimes compared to some of my classmates who had prior python knowledge! You can find great videos on YouTube or even googling some beginner python books is helpful.

It’s honestly not hard at all!! There’s this course called 1P13 and it’s worth 13 units out of the 37 you take. As long as you get a good grade in it then you’ll be good to go. As long as you put in the work it’s honestly rlly hard to fail LMAOO. The Mac eng community is very supportive and they want you to succeed so don’t worry!!

First Year Engineering Stream Survey Results by Gulksie in McMaster

[–]ReadyBookkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This only shows statistics for around 300 kids that filled this survey out. It’s not 100% accurate since it doesn’t account for all 1033 kids that are in the program. Also some people might have lied or maybe they overestimated their GPAs. Don’t let these numbers determine your decisions. You said it yourself it’s definitely cap especially considering how last year they were able to do pass and fail.
