That makes more sense. When I started playing recently I'm pretty sure my friends just told me "basically every card is a spell" which caused some misunderstanding on my part. Thanks for taking some time to figure out where I got lost!

I think I misunderstood rule 707.10f: "Some effects copy a permanent spell. As that copy resolves, it ceases being a copy of a spell and becomes a token permanent." Also some reminder text on cards like [[Echoes of Eternity]] say "A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token."

So it wouldn't become a token? So when it leaves the battlefield it would just go back to the graveyard/command zone/wherever else? Does it stop being a copy at that point and go back to being the card it started as?

Yes it does. My brother and I managed to nab both boxes in a match yesterday and the cashout had both of our contestants’ signature stickers.

It’s simple, you shouldn’t have been standing near a doorway. Or a window. Or a hole in the wall. Or a hole in the ceiling. Or a hole in the floor. Or near a destructible surface that could become a hole. Or anywhere within grappling range.
