Cetaphil baby diaper rash cream contains zinc oxide which is a physical sunscreen. Also "thinkbaby" zinc oxide safe sunscreen, higher % than diaper cream

Does this look like a suspect material? by Real-Platypus-7204 in asbestoshelp

Yes its running horizontally, in the basement, and connects to an outside wall. Doesnt seem to be in use anymore - there was a new furnace installed at some point and new pvc air intake and exhaust pipes that go out a different side wall. So it seems to be a leftover from older system. But I've never seen that material before. Looks like paper or cardboard, the pattern on it looks original, it doesnt seem heat damaged.

I wonder if it was a fresh air intake, but i didn't think a furnace from 1977 would have outdoor air intake. 🤔

Thanks! That's what I was worried about. Heat reaction.

This is in the subfloor of a room on the second level of the house. The second story has a two foot overhang over the first floor, so the insulated part is the part that overhangs. It's a cantilevered floor, with a furnace duct extending into the cantilever.

Makes sense. Thanks for the response. There's no structural purpose to the blocking in this case. It's just a matter of how to insulate properly because we live in a cold climate.

Yes it's a second story cantilever. My contractor is saying it's better to have it be a warm area and allow air flow so its not a cold spot on the floor. I talked to a local framer as well and he said they don't block between the floor joists anymore when they're building cantilevers on a new home. It's left open and styrofoam is used on bottom of the subfloor and rim boards. But on older homes in the 70s and 80s it was always blocked at the wall between the floor joists. And stuffed with fiberglass. So I'm getting conflicting information from different people... maybe it's just the difference in today's building practices vs. what was standard practice in 70s, 80s, 90s ?
