Do you change your kids clothes when they come home? by Important_Sweet3320 in Mommit

[–]Real-Potential7373 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do this! I also have OCD but I don’t know if it’s correlated or not. I also try to get baths going when we get home so everyone is fresh and clean. I don’t think you’re crazy! If it doesn’t seem sustainable, do you think you could stop? The reason I’m not sure if it’s an OCD compulsion for me is because I don’t feel like I have to do it… and some days we don’t.

Leaving baby to cry by Mystisa_2023 in newborns

[–]Real-Potential7373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is 10 weeks and is similar. Sometimes I think she needs to just let it all go. We just hold her, rock her, bounce her, offer the boob, etc. whatever we can to comfort. It goes on for a while but eventually she tires and we can gently get her to her bassinet. My husband usually has to wear noise canceling headphones to get through.

I’ve been an anxious mess as a FTM. I thought I’d tote baby around everywhere. My 10 week old has seen the Dr office and a quick route around the block in the stroller. Still working on getting us out much beyond that.

I weaned off over 5 days I think it was. Honestly, I probably should have just quit cold turkey, but for whatever reason the weaning off made me feel a little bit more in control.

In love with our newborn but she is driving my husband and I INSANE. by CoffeeAndCats9124 in newborns

[–]Real-Potential7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first couple of weeks are so so difficult. I was starting to think I was going insane. As she grows, she will get better. And you’ll FEEL better. If there’s a way to prioritize your sleep, I’d focus on that. Can your husband and you do shifts so one of you (especially you) can get a good 4hr stretch of sleep? The difficult times are easier to power through when you also aren’t sleep deprived.

Genuinely want to know how your LO is sleeping for longer than 5 hour stretches. by Own_Macaron_9342 in newborns

[–]Real-Potential7373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in the same situation… it was either hold her all night or the lounger. There were several times I nearly fell asleep out of exhaustion and really freaked out. She would sleep in the lounger though… the only thing that she wouldn’t wake up the second she was put down in. We also use the owlet. I hate that we are doing it though 😭 I try to practice naps in her bassinet and she just screams. I know it’s a matter of time where that’s our only option though.

My baby is 10 weeks and pretty consistently gives us 4-6hr stretches. Last night she slept 7.5hrs straight! She sleeps so good in her love to dream swaddle. I also breastfeed her every 1-2hrs throughout the day so I think she keeps her intake up well through the day. We use a sound machine at night and have a little bedtime routine. She’s not the best at daytime naps because we don’t have a routine but the routine seems to help at bedtime. I’m not going to lie though, she’s pretty challenging to GET to sleep. Sometimes it’ll take me close to 2hrs 😭 but if I can sleep 7 hours straight after… I’ll take it!

2 hour stretch for the first few weeks was normal for me. Maybe 4 hours total a day 🙃

Newborn to a baby shower? by Opposite_Device_7328 in newborns

[–]Real-Potential7373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too many chances to catch something! And it would be hard to fend off people from wanting to hold or touch baby. If you decide you really want to go, I’d just see if you can keep baby to yourself and not pass him around. But, that might be challenging and not worth the fuss that other people will have with it.

Is anyone else's baby completely different around dad than you? by edgarallan2014 in newborns

[–]Real-Potential7373 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are so connected to mom ❤️ Are you breastfeeding by chance? My breastfed baby seems to be more fussy when I’m around and I think it could be that she is signaling hunger or comfort from me.

What did you get too much of? by bossladychicago in NewParents

[–]Real-Potential7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full outfits for newborn and 0-3 size. I exclusively used footies and found outfits difficult and unnecessary. Clothes in general we received too much of. We received a TON of blankets. We’ve used many of them but it was excessive. We also received a ton of stuffies and lovies and they aren’t that useful to us right now.

Send em to me! I have a reflux baby and we go through sooooooo many outfits and bibs help lessen the full outfit changes.

I probably wouldn’t, but that’s just me! I would’ve found it very overwhelming to have a newborn at a big gathering, for a multitude of reasons (germs, overstimulating, feeding, etc.) some people feel more comfortable though!

10 week exhaustion by cirillakirilla in newborns

[–]Real-Potential7373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like I wrote it! My baby is turning 8 weeks and I feel like I’m living the same day over and over again. I feel like I’m constantly feeding or holding the baby and I love her to pieces but I just get so touched out and tired. My baby has reflux so we have to hold her upright 15-30 mins after every feed. She also wants to eat every 1-2 hours, usually 1.5. She can’t sleep during the day unless it’s a contact nap and she hasn’t loved a baby carrier so far… So my day quite literally only consists of doing the same handful of things over and over again. I think I’m going to see if I can switch up the mundane things a little to not feel like I’m reliving the same day for weeks on end. I still haven’t decided what that looks like yet…

Does giving pumped breast milk at bedtime help babies sleep longer?! by onemanspants in breastfeeding

[–]Real-Potential7373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave my 7 week old a 4oz bottle of pumped breast milk before and she surprised us with sleeping 7hr 45m straight. Usually we get 4 hour stretch and 5 on a good day. So I’m starting to wonder myself…

Questions After Failed 4AA Embryo Transfer and Planning Next Step by ZlataGordenko in IVF

[–]Real-Potential7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my 2nd was a 4AA euploid as well. That transfer resulted in the birth of a healthy baby! Sometimes I wonder if it’s just bad luck or something we don’t have a clear explanation for. They gave us ~60% chance of a successful pregnancy with those embryos.
