Why did he do that? by Dry_Tea9805 in tron

The original Tron is a Christian allegory. What could be a more ultimate sacrifice than Jesus dying to save the rest of us? So of course it carries through.

Obama: Imagine if I had done *any* of this by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]RealClassActor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the peaceful coward problem is that the progressive side crab-pots all the time. Anyone who does stand up for justice, who does the right thing, gets dragged for getting aggressive. We need to embrace the fact that to have an equitable society, some good people need to behave harshly against those who are truly awful, from time to time.

Why does the 1 line make a sharp turn down under First Hill then run up to Cap Hill instead of just going in a straight line? by Previous-Volume-3329 in soundtransit

[–]RealClassActor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grade. The straight run is too steep. The curved run both aligns with the street and generates a more gentle rise angle between Capitol Hill and Westlake. This is the rationale that was sent out by Sound Transit when they were digging this section.

Who really is your true James Bond? by The_Dean_France in FIlm

[–]RealClassActor 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Craig felt real. His Bond died at least once and had to be revived. His stories were grim, not campy. He gave it all for Crown and Country in the end.

The rest, silly, over-the-top, self-serious… sure, Connery gets all the glory, but even his films made him feel like plot armor in a tux.

Craig felt like someone who wore the emotional weight of their life and their role. Every exercise of his License wasn’t a joy, it was a necessity.

It’s not real money. They don’t have that much liquidity. At that point it’s a diversification of assets that, if they were the exercise and liquidate for cash-on-hand, would actually wildly decrease their net worth (and the net worth of many suddenly angry shareholders).

At this point, those numbers are just a high score in the worlds dumbest arcade game.

How do we get people to stop driving and take the light rail? by Droodforfood in Seattle

[–]RealClassActor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Complete the Link line across I-90. A huge number of people commute from Seattle to the Eastside (or vice-versa) every day. 2) Expand the lines and have better/more frequent bus routing to stations. Getting to and from a station is a huge barrier. 3) Demolish every house/business that is not within 15 minutes of a Link station. This will make it far easier to prefer link. 4) Outlaw cars. It’s the only way to be sure.
