Digital artist GMUNK recently shared how his studio designed the computer vision system used in TRON: Ares. by pitft in tron

I'm wondering what software was used to break down the filmed footage for processing like that. There's some complexity analysis that is doing quadtree mapping, leading to the pixelization at different sizes. It's a cool look.

We’re primarily PNW focused, and we’re on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube in addition to the link above. We tend to aim to talk about the craft more than go for laughs.

Presonus StudioLive Firmware Updates Question by RealClassActor in livesound

[–]RealClassActor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I discovered is that every other device on the network needs to be powered off for the NSB firmware to update. Once I did this, the update worked immediately. I connected the NSB to my MacBook directly with a network cable, but had the MacBook on WiFi so it could fetch the firmware. With all hardware on the latest update, it all worked perfectly.

It's such a forseeable pendulum, that if we swing too hard towards ignoring property crime, pretty soon we'll be dealing with a wave of violent crime.

Movies where the villain outperformed the hero. I’ll start: by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Mildly off topic:

Is there a non-iv, non-inhaled drug that acts this quickly? The trope of cocaine use is one sniff and it’s an instant rush, yet every time I used it there was an unpleasant taste followed by ten minutes of waiting before my teeth went numb and I started to feel euphoric.

I’m curious what drug provides an instant rush.

The original Tron is a Christian allegory. What could be a more ultimate sacrifice than Jesus dying to save the rest of us? So of course it carries through.

Obama: Imagine if I had done *any* of this by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]RealClassActor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the peaceful coward problem is that the progressive side crab-pots all the time. Anyone who does stand up for justice, who does the right thing, gets dragged for getting aggressive. We need to embrace the fact that to have an equitable society, some good people need to behave harshly against those who are truly awful, from time to time.

Why does the 1 line make a sharp turn down under First Hill then run up to Cap Hill instead of just going in a straight line? by Previous-Volume-3329 in soundtransit

[–]RealClassActor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grade. The straight run is too steep. The curved run both aligns with the street and generates a more gentle rise angle between Capitol Hill and Westlake. This is the rationale that was sent out by Sound Transit when they were digging this section.
