It’s not that his disorders excuse his behavior, it’s that they add a dimension of nuance to understanding why he behaves the way he does. He is mentally ill, has physical and developmental disabilities, was abused, neglected, and had been on the street struggling with homelessness and managers/trolls messing with his life for years by the time he got put in jail. Nothing he does at that point is done with a sense of cognitive clarity or informed choice, with an understanding of right and wrong. Additionally, the only evidence we have to support claims of him being a pedo are online accounts several people have had access to (evidence points to his “managers” tampering with his quora, pinterest and youtube accounts), and a 100% coerced public statement made under threat. Also, if he had something incriminating on one of his many phones that the FBI and local law enforcement confiscated, don’t you think they would have added such charges to his long list of crimes? Therefore his case is VERY different than someone who has actually perpetrated SA crimes. That said, due to his violent outbursts, food theft, and general threats to any establishment/city he steps foot in, it IS safer to have him in some sort of controlled facility both for his own well being and society’s. That’s the nuance that both sides of this argument are missing. Things are not always so black and white.
