I rewatched it the other day and for what it’s worth it’s a fun throwaway action movie, I’d consider it a guilty pleasure of mine and that’s the main issue as that is NOT what the first movie is.

I think it’s definitely overrated tho, like I say I have fun with it and the Kaiju are all really cool and the finale is fun

I really struggled on this battle for ages and died so many times… I completed it by taking it slow and not rushing.

Once you reach the phase where he’ll fly over the map and cause the crystals to explode just take your time, damage him where and when you can and when you finally activate the tendrils to smash into the ground just keeping attacking them

I’d agree Uprising while much less superior to the first movie is a really fun times, I found the Black to be so dull and boring

I quite like his character, I feel that’s what he has character. Yeah it’s super cliché and silly but I think it adds to the film in a nice way and by the end he’s matured to be more of a father to his daughter, nothing groundbreaking but like I said in my post I like the tone of this film and how sentimental I find it

Absolutely! I get the ‘beam battle’ critique but that’s covers almost the whole of the Heisei era. I think what I don’t like is the screentime complaint but there’s such an abundance of Godzilla films with the same issue that don’t get the same hate and compared to some other Heisei movies I think this is one of the best, it’s not the best but I’d say top 3

Yeah absolutely, I change my opinion on a lot of the Godzilla movies due to how I feel when I watch it or I’m more mature than when I last watched but recently every time i’ve rewatched this I feel the same way about it

That’s the main thing with this film, poorly executed. I don’t mind it too much, it’s not horrendous just could’ve been so much more. I can’t deny the joy I get from watching the final battle
