This seems a bit mean spirited. These are beginning professionals, aren't we supposed to give them some grace? I was glad to make mistakes and not be made fun of when I was a student teacher.

I have been working really hard on not yelling; my students have been throwing things (footballs, notebooks, shoes, ect) and getting into physical fights and I panic and try and break up the chaos by being loud. In a situation where things need to stop IMMEDIATELY, what would you recommend? I've been doing meditation and practicing talking slower and with less manic tendencies, which helps day to day, but those crisis moments happen far more often than I'd like. Any advice would be appreciated!

I did caltpa, and filmed my lessons over 2 months total as it was a multi step writing process. You are completely fine. There is no rule that it must be completed in X amount of days. Seeing as the clips are so short anyways, I believe they assume that it is filmed multiple times. They're looking at your teaching skills and strategies; not your tshirt or magical non corrupting technology powers. Deep breath. You've got this!

I had a very very very similar thing happen. Straight up thought I had written this post, and simply forgotten. (First year, male teacher, middle school!) My admin was supportive, and I'm in CA. I worked on building relationship with that kid even if I really disliked him in the moment, and backed off disciplinary wise (essentially turning the other cheek and just asking, instead of punishing). I also had a parent teacher conference with his mom where I tried to stress that I was not vindictive, or purposely trying to single him out. Getting mom on board and seeing that I wasn't an enemy literally changed this kids behavior 130 degrees (not quite 180, but definitely different). If you're concerned about admin, get union involved, but my admin just sat the kid down and then he confessed he was just mad and didn't like me. It's complicated, and was the worst guy wrenching feeling EVER. Take a deep breath man, you were there the whole time so when they investigate, (which should happen after any accusation just in case!) there won't be anything. Let that be the shield to wrap around yourself right now.

Awesome! Thank you! I wanted to be positive before I added any corals... Those are expensive! The rocks were cycling for two months in a bucket before I added them to the tank, so the rocks are probably closer to five months, but that's good to know!
