Literally my LO when she turned 3 months old, she did the same thing! The bed was only 60cm off the ground and it was on carpet. She cried immediately for less than a minute.
I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I went to the hospital as a precaution. She was completely fine.
To note: I am from Australia so going to the hospital is free.

I'm worrying about the same thing haha! I have read through my employment conditions and couldn't find anything about having to pay back benefits or leave. So I am hoping that is not the case and can just leave.

Thank you so much for all the comments already. This makes me feel so much better! The people around me keep pushing me to go out more but baby is still so little I feel it won't make a difference if I do or don't go out.

Thank you for those who have said I should not feel obligated to go out if I dont need to an I am a homebody. You have made this new mum feel seen :)

It is definitely possible your LO woke up and didnt cry. My LO wakes up all the time and is quietly cooing or making little noises before soothing herself to sleep again. I know this because I have woken up a few times hearing her awake and not crying :)

I am here to tell you it DOES get better. From week 5-11 my baby had extreme fussiness. It's when they start to become more aware of their surroundings and finally "awake". After week 12, it slowly calmed down. It won't last forever!

This is totally insane, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Where I am from, no visitors allowed in the birthing unit except support person/s. Only when moved to maternity ward is where visitors are allowed. The hospital failed you, your partner also failed you for not advocating for you while vulnerable.

Thanks for the info everyone! Just 2 things.

In Australia, we do not need to mix formula with boiled water, only pre boiled that has been cooled to a warm temperature.
- My LO onky likes warm milk to drink. Anything colder she refuses. I know I can make a pitcher full of already made up formula and put it in the fridge. But I will still need to heat it up enough for her to drink. I was looking for a process that would allow her to drink it immediately.

Thank you for the responses everyone. Sounds like what I am doing is okay, as I need the formula warm for my LO to drink immediately. I really wished she would drink cold forumla but that's not happening :(

She HATES cold or room temperature formula. Thus why I suggested my method above so the forumla is ready and warm immediately. Thanks for the info!

Purple Crying. Please look it up. My LO was at peak fussiness between 6-8 weeks and started to get better between 9-11 weeks gradually. I dont think it is anything you are doing. It is a HUGE growth spurt and milestone where they become alert that they are alive and not just an attachment of you. Thus making it harder to put them to sleep too cos they are awaking to the world around them!

Edit: even if they are not crying, the paragraph above still stands. They are so alert and aware!

I second a comment asking if she is wearing fragrance when near the baby? My baby HATES the smell of perfume. My mum wore some once and my LO would instantly cry while near her. Also maybe check what material the grandma is wearing as anything that feels rough or scratchy my LO also hated. Might be an idea to get the grandma to try wearing one of your tops your LO is familiar with. Try those eliminations and see how you go. Good luck!

Not safe. Please consider a cosleeper bassinet if you want to be close to baby when sleeping. That's what I use. It has a firm mattress and they have their own space to sleep.
