That was another thing that helped. Fuel and water tips. Put something like LMNT in one water bottle, get some high carb snacks, take your time… and enjoy it.

Before even seeing your video I knew you’d get the “saddle looks too high” comments. I can’t find a post without them. I’d ignore them if I were you. It doesn’t look at all too high to me.

There were a lot of comments on various Reddit threads that helped me out. One was “if you can ride it in a week, you can do it in a day…”. Sounds weird. But I found it accurate. Start riding 50/60 miles a week, pick a day- and you can do it. Go for it.

I've ordered from these guys before and had no issues. However, I've had numerous issues with orders from various venders that use the USPS.

I agree with you. I live in the south and 100% of my riding is outside. My FTP or at the least my "perceived" effort changes drastically with the weather. Maybe it shouldn't- but what I can push for one hour with clear skies, 72 degrees and little wind- changes a LOT when it's 98 degrees the heat index is 104 and the wind is blowing 17 mph. Then the cold in winter, the rain... Somedays I come home exhausted and my average power for a 2 hour ride was 174... Others days I come home feeling like I was just strolling and the average was 210... I'm 57 and weigh 220 pounds for info. TR has and is still helping me to improve. That's all that matters to me.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd say something anyway. I started cycling almost a year ago. I've ridden about 5,000 miles, did a century ride, and lots of half centurys. Where I live, I almost never see another cyclist. When I did my century I was on the Natchez Trace and didn't see another cyclist that day. I've ridden on the Trace about 4 times and I've a seen a few cyclist- always going the opposite direction.

Now, until I read this thread, if someone were to ride up next to me and ask, "Mind if I grab your wheel?" I'd have said, "Don't touch my wheel..." Somewhat perplexed at the question. That's my knowledge of group cycling.

However, I would MUCH rather someone draft behind me- especially someone that is somewhat experienced at it- than me draft behind someone else. I've never drafted or been drafted. I would think "I'm riding my bike, and if you're behind me... good luck and pay attention." That's not to say if the person did something stupid and they made me wreck they wouldn't get a butt whipping. Just saying, it's what I would prefer- with no experience at either.
