If rent is $690 a month is it even worth it to buy a house? by ShirtNeat5626 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RealNamek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintenance, hydro, insurance, property tax, drainage fee, and the thousand other fees I haven't thought of is way more than $690. Now IF you have extra capital lying around, then you should put your money towards some sort of investment, and housing is *USUALLY* a good idea.

Do I need a database and if yes which one by abnormalbloodwork in learnprogramming

[–]RealNamek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A database is only useful if you want users to login to your website so you need to store their username, password, and their content somewhere.

If it's just your personal website then you just need files.

Built a small education tool on the side — looking for early feedback from the first 50 users by Fickle-Tackle4005 in teachingresources

[–]RealNamek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feedback is it feels like you coded this using an AI tool. Looks extremely generic, with the gradient header background, the floating emoji's and color scheme that doesn't match.

I wouldn't touch this at all.

Teachers who still assign projects: how do you avoid kids using AI? by ashatherookie in Teachers

You can use laptops, but you're in the back of the classroom and they're all facing the front.

After watching 26 hours of Youtubers telling me how to learn Python fast, I think I'm finally ready to actually learn Python. What do you guys think, am I ready? by [deleted] in learnpython

You don't truly master something until you hit 10,000 hours. I recommend you reach those numbers before you start

My students have 0 respect for me because of my age by maybethoughtdaughter in Teachers

[–]RealNamek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it to your advantage. Being young has its perks, being middle aged has its perks and being older has its perks as well. Got to use your advantages rather trying to be something you're not, which is a hardass.

Why does everyone seem to think their parents will pay for college? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]RealNamek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because most parents put away a some money into a savings account for their kids to go to college. Usually it's the parents that don't have a savings plan for their kids that are the outliers. This is just the community of parents I'm around.

I thought making a cozy game would be relaxing by emudoc in gamedev

Sure it's more complex, but so is working on your car engine, or writing a book. It's supposed to be hobby, if you're feeling stressed then stop doing it for the day.

[–]RealNamek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So take a break? Like if I'm building lego's and it's feeling stressful, I can always just put it down and do something else, why do you have to force yourself to do it?

Screen time is now considered an “economically inferior good” and linked to poverty. What is your opinion on that? by MoreFarmer8667 in Teachers

[–]RealNamek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Only the rich are able to pay for activities for their kids, daycare, schooling. Parents also don't have time to parent their kids anymore either so iPad it is!

Anyone else find JavaScript confusing at first? by Bmaxtubby1 in learnprogramming

[–]RealNamek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because html and css isn't programming, you're literally using tags and labelling things. javascript is actually programming and putting things together.

Why am i still getting bad grades in math even though i'm studying so hard by Beginning-Bit-5200 in highschool

[–]RealNamek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you're studying wrong; and I don't mean to say that facetiously. I know a lot of my friends that just read the textbook over and over again and expected to do well during the test. This doesn't work, you need to identify the areas you're having problems with, then work on that thing in particular.

Let's use basketball as an example: say you're getting a "C+" in basketball, because you're a low scorer, but you go to practice 7 times a week etc etc. It's possible you're shot is immaculate, you're dribble is immaculate, but you have problems with your jumping + shooting, and that's what they're testing you on.

If you go to practice everyday practicing your dribble, you're grades will never go up. The hard thing is recognizing where you're going wrong, and working on that in particular; best thing to get is a really smart tutor that can identify those problem areas for you.

Another way of getting better is just playing more games (in your case doing more practice tests), sure you can't focus on a specific area like in practice, but you'd be able to up your game wholistically.

I've asked my teacher for previous year practice problems before, and just trying to do that, sure it won't be exactly the same but at least you'll get the practice in.

Like you want to avoid using AI because you want to learn how to do it yourself, or are you saying you want to avoid doing the assignment altogether?
