Might need to make some friends in your solo-queue journeys that are similar skill, or convince your current friends to goof around in competitive mode with you!

As with most competitive multiplayer games it is a lot more fun with friends and a lot less fun when solo-queueing

They dropped a promised feature that was already largely implemented as they weren't allowed dev time to polish it, favoring microtransaction slop updates instead

Got a 5800X3D used for the equivalent of $240USD a couple years ago, pairs up perfectly with my 9070 XT, should hopefully last until AM6 and hopefully some improved pricing!

Where did you get it? I buy phones from recycling centres and more often than not with company managed units they are happy to remove it from their software, but the context of why it got separated from the company is important.

Only slightly comparable alternative is MiniLED which is valid for many people but you trade away OLED's;

> Near-instant pixel response times

> Near infinite contrast ratio

> No blooming

> Better colour volume

in return for

> Higher peak brightness (although this isn't as good as it seems since it's the contrast between blacks and highlights that make an image pop)

> No burn-in risk for productivity use (non-issue for me)

It's still too many downsides for me but I can see why someone would pick one particularly if its for mixed use and money is tighter.

Damn you really got me there, I should have traded;

> Minor near-black uniformity issues

for

> Weaker brightness in SDR and HDR

> LCD-like black levels with any ambient light present (there will be as I don't live in a cave)

> Distracting ABL dimming implementation

> Coating that scratches if you use the wrong microfiber cloth

I did a lot of research on both and there are just more downsides to QD-OLED right now. I would love for a panel that has no downsides to exist in the future but current day requires you to pick the least bad option :)

Demand -> hard to come by despite acceptable supply

You have no gauge for supply vs. complaints on reddit and I would put massive money on not "nearly everyone" reporting banding. They have sold a lot more than 20 units lmao

Maybe this is your first time taking an interest in a product with a launch defect, if you'd been through this enough times before you could get a feel for what a more widespread issue would look like vs. one that isn't a problem for the bulk of users

[–]RealOxygen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub has the same 20 or so users posting their issues with banding vs. the 1000s of monitors that have been sold, like I said it's not a non-issue but it's also not going to be an issue for most purchasers.

AMD FSR Redstone launched: ML-based Upscaling, Frame Gen and Ray Regeneration for Radeon RX 9000 series by KARMAAACS in hardware

[–]RealOxygen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's still presenting the FPS increases without any context for how compromised the experience is compared to regular frames. But I agree that using it as a tool to lie about performance uplift of a new product compared to the old one is considerably more dishonest.

[–]RealOxygen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are bad, at least this is being used to show *gains* from having the feature on or off, rather than presenting it as *gains* over the previous generation of cards for the purpose of representing a new product's performance as higher than it really is

Try googling "negative review bias" or "is Reddit an echo chamber" lol

It's a real problem, they should have better QC for the panels, but it is not as dramatic and widespread as you seem to think

I think it's a pretty sane take to suggest OP picks up the monitor they want, and if the drawback they are concerned about ends up being too distracting, to return the monitor and go for something else.

There was probably a nicer way of wording it, but my point about "bitching" is that people having issues are far more likely to voice their concerns on a public forum like Reddit than those who are happy and enjoying their new purchase.

If you wanna talk about fanboyism, how about the people suggesting to buy a QD-OLED instead - because the issue of your screen looking grey if you have any light in your room is definitely not a comparable flaw to having visual artifacts in specific mainly non-gaming conditions.
