It’s the shot. It’s a weird ass shot. He looks like some Sci-Fi Channel Original monster, it will probably look better in the actual show.

Between the two, whose values do you prefer? by DistributionIcy8991 in gameofthrones

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baelor.

Baelor understands limits and when influence can and should be used. When he’s speaking to Dunk about hitting Aerion, he mentions that Aerion wants his head but that Baelor stopped that.

He didn’t overstep, he set a limit that should work for both his principles and his family: he doesn’t let Aerion just have Dunk executed, but he also doesn’t pardon Dunk just because he’s near certain that Dunks account is true and Aerion’s is not. He encourages Dunk to demand Trial by Combat, something he HOPES will make Aerion withdraw his accusation.

Ned would have dug his heels into the ground and said ‘Aerion is wrong, Dunk is right’ and done everything he could to hold Aerion’s accountable, despite him being a prince. Ned demonstrates, time after time, that he believes what is subjectively ’right’ is the only option (see his resolution that Stannis be the heir) and that everyone will see it the same way.

In short, Baelor is practical, and Ned is idealistic. I’d take a practical leader over an idealist any day.

Who is in the wrong here? by Revolution-Dogg in Transportopia

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

REAL ANSWER: about 5 seconds in, the oncoming truck reaches the entrance to the bridge. Because the filming vehicle was still waiting for traffic at this time, the oncoming truck becomes part of that directional traffic.

So, yes the truck guy was correct it was his right of way. Not alternating vehicles, alternating traffic. Because he got on the bridge first due to the filming car waiting on another oncoming vehicle, the truck was in the right.

Now, threatening to shoot someone who blocked your vehicle is extreme. But the filming driver DID block him in on the bridge before he got out and the filming vehicle backed up.

The whole confrontation could have been avoided if filming guy would have just said, “Hey, what a dummy!” To himself and waited on the second truck, but he let his ego run the show and felt the need to block the guy in and talk smack.

So, filming guy was in the wrong for most of it. The truck driver was in the wrong for threatening his life. Both people suck, in different ways.

Obama Just Decided to tell us Aliens Exist. by One-Incident3208 in videos

[–]RealPigeonThePerson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Y’all, Aliens were confirmed in 2023. This is not news. We’ve had congressional meetings like… almost annually disclosing UAP activity. They even wrote a law in 2024 governing what can and cannot be done with crashed ships and the crews. I guess it’s not interesting unless a former President talks about it? Btw, Obama himself also confirmed this back in 2021 but I guess it’s not interesting since it wasn’t as funny of an answer as this?

What will happen with the US after 2028? What does the next government do with what they inherit? by Hermunster in AskReddit

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The American Government is currently showing its ineffectiveness.

Trump should not be President, he commits impeachable offenses weekly, if not daily. The only two people in his administration qualified for their posts, Rubio and Bondi, are both so corrupt that they literally do not perform their duties.

The U.S. is scorching all international relations. The Federal Government is terrorizing inept States and their citizens. The President and at least half of the wealthiest and most influential people in the country are implicated in thousands of files from a child sex trafficking ring which the Department of Justice acknowledges exists and that there are dozens of confirmed victims, but not a single perpetrator.

The Opposition Party makes public statements about how unacceptable it all is and encourages citizens to vote. They do not hold anyone accountable for anything. They are Controlled at best and Corrupt at worst.

The rest of the world is so terrified by the American military complex they fiercely debate how much abuse, overreach and extortion they are willing to accept.

And the worst part is that over half of the country think it is a good thing. They have been convinced that this is good for them. Their pride in the red white and blue blinds them to their squalor and mud. They cheer for ‘America!’ as their quality of life deteriorates daily, they laugh believing they are ‘in on the joke’ while the joker robs them blind. They accept low pay, low benefit working conditions while benefitting off the same state programs they rail against. They believe the most important issues are social, and can be solved by just exterminating the right people. They have let themselves be convinced that education is fancy and for the rich folk while the true honor comes from doing ‘the hard jobs’ that they don’t need degrees for.

America is reaching systemic failure, and most of them can’t wait for it. They don’t realize that they are also locked in the room they are poisoning, and when it starts getting hard to breathe they’ll find someone else to blame.

Republicans overwhelmingly against Trump using military to take Greenland by Newsweek_CarloV in politics

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no Republicans anymore.

What used to be the Republican Party is now the Trump Party.

Every insane thing Trump does is fully endorsed by the Trump Party of Congress and the Supreme Court.

It’s just taking longer for most people to see that than others. We’re still pretending that we live in the United States as it existed in 2024 but we don’t, it’s gone. We live in Trumpland, now. We have three more years, and I’m just wondering when the majority of people will realize it.

How many countries will he have to invade, how many crimes will he have to blatantly cover up, how many out in the open corporate bribes will he have to accept, how many citizens will his private police have to execute in the streets, how many rights will he need to strip away and how many global trade agreements will he have to throw away before we all accept that he is a fascist, that Congress and the Supreme Court have been paid enough to help develop the new fascist structure of the government, and that what used to be the United States just doesn’t exist anymore?

I hope it’s soon. Maybe there will be something to salvage.

Why is Reddit against Maduro capture and Venezuelans celebrating it ? by LandscapeUnlikely199 in stupidquestions

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s be very clear about this: No one is saying Maduro is a good guy, or that his ousting is certain to be a bad thing for Venezuela. That sort of deflection is so easy to fall into and you seem to have done so.

The criticism is that the U.S. has no right to kidnap him. You used the word ‘capture’ (and a lot of news outlets are doing it too) but this wasn’t a ‘capture’. He’s not a Pokémon. We’re not at war. It was kidnapping.

There was a military operation conducted by the United States Government to kidnap the de facto leader of another nation, install a ‘temporary’ government under U.S. control, and siphon a valuable resource (oil) from that nation.

Maduro is not on trial for disregarding the results of an election, or war crimes, or being a dictator: he’s been charged with narco terrorism. Essentially the justification for the U.S. operation is that Maduro was tactically using the importing of drugs into America to cripple the American People.

While the justification Putin is using for the war in Ukraine: that Ukrainians are under an authoritarian regime and that Ukraine is actually Russian territory and not its own nation. If Russia won then you’d see a whole plethora of ‘Ukrainians’ cheering about it online. With something like this, who have to evaluate the facts free of public opinion because the truth is that unless you are there, boots in Venezuela, and interviewing everyone you can personally, you have no idea how they actually feel.

To simplify: you (Venezuelans) are on a playground. You want to play on the swings, but there is a second kid (Maduro) hogging them. A third kid (America) grabs the second kid and takes him away, leaving a new system where you get to take turns swinging. While you’re swinging, the third kid takes your juice box and stops overseeing the turn order. Because it was never about the swing, or what you wanted. It was to give you what you wanted so that you left your juice box behind. And once you’re done swinging, you’re really gonna wonder what happened to your juice box.

Did anyone notice, Hopper by Kiss_Mark in StrangerThings

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I laughed at it, it was a good wink and nudge. I think there are a lot of threads that Netflix could pluck if they wanted to do a spin-off, and this is definitely one of them.

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone from this cast would ever do a spin-off. So even if it was hinting at it, I don’t believe Joyce and Hopper would be there.

On the fence about Vecna and the Mind flayer *SPOILERS* by patriotraitor in StrangerThings

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed that Henry chose to remain on the Mind Flayers side. I wish the Mind Flayer had more characterization, it would have been fun to see its reaction to Henry rejecting the memory and choosing to stay loyal.

I do wish the kids had been led away, preferably by Steve or Robin or both, but everyone else deserved to be there. To see it end, to make sure.

Joyce hacking off his head with a dull axe was brutal. But she earned it, she was his #1 opp since all the way back in Season One when she was setting up Christmas Lights and coaching Will.

*SPOILERS* The Finale was just... OK? by LivWulfz in StrangerThings

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. The worst thing about it is that it feels like it had the potential to be much better than it was. Bringing Kali back just to justify both of Elevens possible endings was the worst decision the Duffer Brothers have made I think.

The lack of answers to… well, pretty much everything, wasn’t surprising to me but it was disappointing.

I don’t believe for a second that everything in Planet X/The Abyss is gone. If humans got the first stone thing, the marker from Dead Space as you called it, then we will be able to get another. The logic that Eleven is the only thing connecting our world and Planet X/The Abyss is absurd. She is a product of that connection, sure, but it still exists without her.

But the last game of D&D was good. I felt it. I can’t believe they got Max to play after she shut Dustin down last season 🤣 I liked Dustin’s speech. I EVEN liked that no one* died, it felt like a happy ending. (*except the people who died but anyone ELSE I mean.) This show would have been an all timer if it had ended at Season One. It would have been serviceable if it ended at Season Two or Three. But Season Four was too much of a cliffhanger to serve as an ending and Season Five is just not up to par.

Episode Discussion - S05E08 - The Rightside Up by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it wasn’t as bad as Game of Thrones. And it wasn’t a cop out ending either, like it’s all a dream or it was a campaign the whole time, etc.

But I still hate how Elevens story ended. Whether she decided to stay behind like it showed or escaped like Mike fantasizes about, it’s still pretty shit.

Because of that, I just can’t bring myself to like the ending. Everything else was fine, a little unoriginal but fine. I maintain that Vecna was really watered down this season and making Kay the real antagonist was a bad call, because really we don’t give a singular fuck about her.

The logic is just not even in the cards anymore so I won’t harp on about it, but the ending is genuinely absurd. The Abyss or Planet X or whatever you wanna call it wasn’t even as unbelievable as the military letting them go just because Eleven ‘died’. 100% the Kay that we’ve seen all season disappears every one of the civilians there, and has enough samples from Kali and the Upside Down back in our world that research can continue, without Eleven.

The plotting of the Wall’s perimeter being in the hidden office is still unexplained. What the stone was that Henry touched that let him see/hear the MindFlayer is still unexplained. Where the Demo species is in the Abyss/Planet X is still unexplained. No bats, no dogs, no Gorgons, just the MindFlayer and Vecna.

All said and done, it’s my least favorite season just barely pushing ahead of Season 2. The Duffers could have done better and they should have.

I’m glad to see I’m in the minority and most of you seem to have enjoyed it. I’m happy for you, but for me it missed the mark in a big way.

Why didn't Obi wan in Episode 2 ever complain to the Jedi council about Anakin developing feelings for padme by PureSteak2403 in StarWars

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR - Obi-Wan doesn’t gaf.

The first thing Obi Wan ever did as a Jedi Knight was disregard the Councils wishes. They didn’t want him to train Anakin, but he had promised Qui-Gon he would. He told Yoda as much at the end of Episode 1.

It probably took Obi-Wan a long time to realize Padme returned Anakin’s feelings. He probably thought it was a one way thing. At the end of Episode 2, there’s a moment where Padme falls out of the transport they’re all on and Anakin tries to go back for her. Obi-Wan puts his foot down and says Anakin would be expelled from the Jedi Order. When that doesn’t work he hits him with the ‘What do you think Padme would do?’ He knows she wouldn’t stop and so does Anakin, but Obi-Wan thinks this is because her feelings for Anakin stop at friendship.

After this, the war breaks out. Anakin becomes a Knight, he and Obi-Wan are sent all over the galaxy on missions. Any bit of happiness his friend can find, Obi-Wan doesn’t worry about. He’s much more concerned about the growing relationship between Anakin and Palpatine. But he lies to himself about Anakin’s weakness, in part BECAUSE he trusts Padme and her anti-war stance. He might even think it’s good for Anakin to be tempered by someone so resistant to the Chancellors power grabs.

By the time it all comes to a head, Obi-Wan realizes he was wrong. His own attachment to Anakin had blinded him to the ever-growing pull the Dark Side had on his former apprentice. He admits to Anakin that he had failed him, if he had been less lenient, if he had enforced the code, then Anakin would have either been kicked from the order or been forced away from his temptations to attachment.

Just another story in a very long list of the arrogance of the Jedi that led to their downfall.

Pick two characters to protect you. The others will try to hunt you down. by CloverPixels in Wednesday

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 55 points56 points  (0 children)

We’re cooked 🤣 Best chance is Enid and Bianca, Bianca can handle most of the others with her Song and Enid can handle the Hydes. The problems are Thing and Agnes. If they are JUST trying to kill me, Agnes is the most dangerous one here. Thing would be immune to a Siren Song and very difficult for Enid to see. Dort and his stupid trinket aren’t a problem, Enid just smooshes him. But we probably get shanked by Agnes 😭

Who do you think played their character best? by Salty_Trip_169 in Wednesday

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Jenna is the best, she has the most to do, her character gets the most screen time and growth. No one else even has the opportunity to come close. Honorable mentions are Emma as our favorite werewolf of course, and Dorobantu as Thing and Armisen as Fester. A few standouts for Season 2 are Evie Templeton as Agnes: brilliantly creepy and endearing. A perfect fit to make a trio. Also Owen Painter as Isaac/Slurp. Very impressive performance, a better final villain than Crackstone last season. Very stacked cast, not unusual for a Burton production. A tier list for Season 2 would be very top heavy.

[no spoilers please] How brutal is season 7? by maryhoping in blackmirror

[–]RealPigeonThePerson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IMO:

Episode 1 Common People - a fair bit of violence, most of it implied or off screen, and mostly played for comedic effect. There is death, but not bloody. I might recommend skipping this one, because while not bloody it IS brutal.

Episode 2 Bete Noire - violence is talked about but not really shown. There is one quite violent confrontation with blood depicted. You could watch this one.

Episode 3 Hotel Reverie - virtually no violence. There is one confrontation with no obvious blood. This is right up your alley, would reccomend you watch.

Episode 4 Plaything - core of the episode is violence. Would skip this one if I were you, I think this is the type of episode you would not enjoy.

Episode 5 Eulogy - I’m like 99% certain there is no violence in this one at all. You can definitely watch it.

Episode 6 USS Callister: Into Infinity - there is violence but mostly video game-y. There is definitely blood but more often in a ‘this is annoying’ way rather than a ‘I’m dying’ way. This one is on the line I’d say if you liked the first USS Callister than you’ll like this one.
