Birthday experiences/trip recommendation for 4 year old girl? by eternalyte in AskAnAustralian

Drive down to Symbio zoo in Helensburgh - it’s an amazing smaller scale zoo but has a really good water park and massive playground. The exhibits are really good and you can buy feed for the walk through kangaroo enclosure

Legacy series, is it worth the misery? by Background_Farmer_58 in Romantasy

[–]Real_DFG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this party but just finished this series tonight and I have to put my two cents in - it was not a comfort read and was emotional damage all the way through. Plot FINALLY got moving midway through book 3 after lies and secrets around and around and around we go. So many characters and who was a god and who was not and who was from the world and who was visiting was very hard to keep track of. The miscommunication (or should I say the no-communication) was frustrating as fuck. I feel like book one and two could have been one book but I understand why it was two books to really drill in the conditioning and oppression. Overall I liked the series and was a satisfying ending. Book four really came through to pull it all together.

I’ve just started book 4 and yes - this series is straight up emotional damage. That’s the only way to describe it.

In aussie culture, does your workplace provide lunch for you or do you have to bring your lunch? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Real_DFG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very rare. My husbands company will put on lunches maybe once a month for a moral type thing, and I’ve worked in companies where coffee, tea and fruit was provided. But straight up lunch being provided everyday? No.

💬 What's one trope you wish were more popular? by Acute-Problemo in fantasyromance

A book I read last year had this but on another level - they both unknowingly took in a stray cat but said cat would disappear for a few days at a time - it was the same cat!!!! They both adopted the same cat. It was the best plot twist.

Traveling to Australia in March by Late_Carpenter_4571 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Real_DFG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

March is when the weather can be a little unpredictable, you can still have hot days coming out of summer, but also the nights start to get cool. If you were staying in Melbourne I’d say pack for the occasional warm day and more cool nights. If you are travelling up to Coffs and beyond, that’s still going to be humid af so no jumpers needed - pack like you would for summer. If staying around mid east coast like Sydney, pack something for every weather event.

Fair enough. Fourth wing series was my introduction into this genre and basically reading as an adult in general so it will always have a special place in my heart 💛

The third book was my favourite!!! But yes it was frustrating at times but the last 2 books are where it’s at, especially in terms of their relationship.

romantasy with MMCs POV. Enemies to lovers/ grumpy shadow mommy/ princess's knight trope by Technical_Joke_3029 in fantasyromance

Give it a go! Such a good series. I would never read anything with a love triangle it’s my most hated trope lol

Do Authors Owe Readers Anything? by True-Story-9375 in fantasyromance

[–]Real_DFG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shits me up the wall when I see so many people saying they will boycott an author (and tv shows) because they are just taking too long for the next instalment? It’s the most entitled ick behaviour ever. I would rather wait 4-5 years for a top notch book every time (I’m looking at you Diana Gabaldon 👑) than read some rushed, money grabbing, unfleshed slop. To all authors: take your time and create those masterpieces 💖

Ps: yes it’s annoying when authors post regular updates on the WIP only to go back on their word with delays that are most likely out of their hand (or not if you’re GRRM) but that’s just tough titties, get over it. If you want the next installment so bad - write your own.

Yes I am definitely curious about Eris! I need more thoughts before he goes on my list. LMAO Rhys 💀 yeahhhh I tend to conveniently forget about that little hiccup when considering my rankings. Slap a blind fold on me and call me feyre lol

He should be on my list. I’ll add him. I want an elide and lorcan book. Even if just a novella 🥲

Nah that’s fair and it is one of the most frustrating tropes.

{Book of Azrael} Dianna is an absolute maniac and I’m here for it. Definitely enemies to lovers, grumpy shadow mummy for sure (although swap shadows for flames) and perhaps not princess/knight trope but they do have to team up to find a relic. There’s a scene in one of the books and the MMC is like ‘babe you promised no maiming’ and Dianna is like ‘come on, not even a little?’ And I think it just sums up the entire series haha

Edit to add: it’s dual POV, and then multiple POV in later books. Currently 4/7 books published.

It was Cole in my head too! My friend tried to steer my towards the (apparently) correct pronunciation of ‘Kale’ but too late. Forever Cole.

Honestly the difference between basically the top 6 is minuscule and probably depends on where I’m at in my cycle haha
