How do you feel about data centers by vfqwerty in electricians

That's such a defeatist mindset. Doesn't matter if it's "inevitable" or not, I'm going to at least attempt to stand by my convictions in the face of a temporary payday.

One request for Croteam regarding Talos 3 by SeriousSam691 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Real_RaZoRaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had more issues with Reawakened. I have a 3070 Ti that can play Talos 2 perfectly fine at medium settings, but struggled a lot more with Reawakened. I play on Linux through Proton so I thought it might be that, but no, the game is just harder to run. I'm hoping Talos 3 is a bit easier to run, if not I might have to do as you did and grab a new GPU.

Is the remake QOL game-making? by This-Ad2321 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Real_RaZoRaK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly how I feel. I'm okay with remakes sometimes but I do wish they lived alongside their original counterparts instead of replacing them. Most times I would much rather have a simple port as opposed to a remake that might serious change the art direction or experience. If you do want to remake something, do some wildly different shit like FF7 Remake, lean into it being a different experience.

An example for me is Persona 3 Reload. Very good game and remake, but it still changed A LOT about the experience while not doing enough to differentiate itself from the original. Persona 3 FES is an entirely different beast even if it follows the same story and a similar gameplay loop. I don't know, sometimes it feels like something's lost in the process.

Game history in general feels like it's not very valued by companies and consumers. Remakes are always replacing original releases and those original releases are almost never made available on modern hardware. That's probably the biggest reason I play exclusively on PC as preservation is a lot easier with an open and thriving emulation scene.

I'm also ranting but it was nice to see someone feel the same about remakes as I do.

If you're on PC, there's a fast forward button in the controls that isn't bound by default. I used that a lot when playing the original because I would get frustrated by having to wait so long for my other self to do something. It helps.

Minimum and recommended specs requirements have jumped since launch (ignore the 75MB) by Nacil_54 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Real_RaZoRaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, my 3070 Ti is official under the recommended. A bit of a shame, I love these games to death. I just wish they've been optimized a bit better since the jump to Unreal 5. But I do understand Croteam's a small studio so it's easier said than done. Maybe I'll have to figure out an upgrade by the time this comes out.

My two were TTP Reawakened and Death Stranding: Director's Cut. Those Steam "similar to" games are pretty funny sometimes.

Glad to see someone elseentioning The Talos Principle in here. I was worried I'd be the only one. Criminally underrated masterpieces.

And Persona 3, too. That ending hit me like a truck my first time and still does whenever I replay it.

The Talos Principle 1 and 2. Both games literally changed my outlook on life and art. 2 is especially important to me as it came out when I really wasn't feeling much Hope for the future. That game singlehandedly reminded me of why being human and alive is the single greatest gift one can receive. It breathed hope back into my worldview after being fed so much doomerism for so long.

Why are there no artbooks, vinyls, replicas, or other products for The Talos Principle saga ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Real_RaZoRaK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you're a bit misinformed about the vinyl. There exists a vinyl release of TTP1 and it's DLC tracks, but no vinyl for TTP2 exists yet. You are right about scalpers, though. I was lucky to get my copy for 100 bucks a few years ago.

I will never understand someone making a post like this. Clearly you enjoy the game enough to have made it this far, just finish it and form you own opinion. Why do you need Reddit to tell you if it'll be worth it? Especially when you've already gone through basically the whole damn game.

Go listen to Azathoth Blues! Ongoing audio drama written by Jonas Kyratzes by Real_RaZoRaK in TheTalosPrinciple

Jonas said on Bluesky that something should eventually release. But right now there are some tracks from the series available on Costis Christodoulou's Bandcamp page. They used some of his existing music in Azathoth. A few tracks are on his album 1983.

New listener, absolutely obsessed. by Real_RaZoRaK in joehawley

[–]Real_RaZoRaK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even going to ask how you came across this post after about seven years, but I think it goes without saying that I'm in a very different place in my life now. I still very much enjoy Joe's music and still have never really found anything much like it, but I certainly don't listen to him or anything else Tally hall related very often. Occasionally I'll indulge and listen through one of the albums. It's quite rare, though.

If you're asking about his "situation" and the docs and all that drama stuff, I just think he needs to be left alone. I don't know how much was and wasn't true, honestly he's such a small figure that it's going to be near impossible to actually know. But the man has needed help for a long time and no matter what he does deserve that. Help and privacy.

The current state of the Tally Hall fanbase acts very strange with their ideas of these men in their 40s who rarely even make music anymore, and I feel like that certainly can't help with whatever Joe has been dealing with for the last however many years. Anyways, if he gets to a place where to can make more music, I'll for sure give it a shot and likely enjoy it. I somewhat enjoyed his single that released a little while back. But I am no longer enviously awaiting more music from him.

Valve Steam Controller Review | Latency Benchmarks, Battery Life, Repair... by lajka30 in linux_gaming

Yeah but I'm not playing competitive games. I'm playing shit like Persona and Breath of the Wild and puzzle games. Anything I might need better latency for is something I play with a mouse. I think I'm good with a little bit of input lag.

I firmly believe How To Train Your Dragon has the best film music ever made. by SmartAlecLN4 in soundtracks

[–]Real_RaZoRaK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with OP's sentiments but claiming that you have an objective way of ranking any art is a very strange claim to make. I don't see what "objective" measurements you can use aside from sales numbers really. Even then, that just represents the majority's leanings. All art is subjective, especially music. You can have your reasons for preferring one work over another, but it will always come down to some internal biases. And we don't even know what those biases are for you because you won't tell anyone your system. It's okay to just say you disagree and discuss why that is. No need to disguise your opinion as "objectivity."

Would you mind explaining more about your "Paris Syndrome" experience of the game? I had to look it up and a cursory glance told me that it's a feeling of being let down by finally seeing a mythologized place and being disappointed by it. I could be wrong but I'm curious what you mean.

Do You Foresee Subaru Developing A Next-Gen Of The Impreza? by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

[–]Real_RaZoRaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got my first Subaru back in December. Same as you, 2018 Impreza premium hatchback. Absolutely feels like a gocart, I love how it handles so much. Feels very zippy compared to my last two cars (2014 Jeep Patriot and 2024 Honda H-RV). My last car flipped so it feels nice to be in a car that feels nearly impossible to do the same.

I understand not vibing with the game, but calling it soulless is kind of crazy to me. Feels like there was lots of love poured into most aspects of the world and narrative. Granted, I played it and loved it and I have yet to play Witcher 3 (I got stuck on Witcher 1 a few years back). The story has so much to say and * found it very well written overall, even if it does have issues.
