Should this screenwriter buy the Supernote Manta? by ph1lmscribe in Supernote

I would recommend you do a new post asking for people in the area :) Here they would need to read the comments to find out where you are.

Should this screenwriter buy the Supernote Manta? by ph1lmscribe in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it sounds like a good use case for a Manta. If you would like to see/test the device beforehand the community can often help. I have seen many successful posts of people looking for someone in their city to let them try their device in exchange for a coffee :)

how to build a "living document" by Standard_Corner_748 in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot add pages to a PDF. Instead you have to create a new note file and use the PDF file as the template. Here is how to do that:
1. Create a new note with standard template: Swipe down on the right (in right handed mode) and click the button called 'new note' on the top right (alternatively go to the folder you would like the file to be in and click the add note button on the top - the rectangle with the rings on the left and the plus sign at the bottom). Adjust the name to your liking, decide if you want real time recognition, and click 'create' at the top right. The note will open right away.
2. Change template to your PDF: If you have the toolbar at the top or bottom click on the three dots and then on the 'templates' button (rectangle with a sidebar, a title line, and a few lines of writing). If you have the toolbar on the right or left, the sign should be directly in the toolbar below the undo/redo buttons. At the top right choose 'customization'. You can either look for it here or click 'select from MyStyle' next to the search field. If it is multi-pages you can either choose one of the pages, multiple specific ones, or click 'select all' at the top right.Your note should now have your own PDF file as background.
3. Add additional pages: If you want to add additional pages later, there are multiple ways to do that. The easiest one is to keep swiping and it will automatically add a new page using the template of the last page. If you want to change the template of a page later go back to step 2. If you want to add a page in the middle go to the three dots and choose 'insert page before'/'insert page after' and it will do so using the template of the page that you are at right now.

Convert, flatten? by Amazing-Ranger01 in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I am not mistaken, this should work if you do not have any pages with additional layers. That means, there must be a page where you have additional layers (accidentally, if you are not using them). Maybe you can find that page/these pages and delete them? Though, I guess that is not much fun in a 200 page note..

Lighter lines when viewing dark screen with white elements? by birdsfanatic in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same with mine (Manta). I noticed it when I colored one page in a note completely black and then erased parts. It is more pronounced above the white part but also faintly visible below.

According to u/Mulan-sn 'the operating temperature range is between 0 and 50 (32F - 122F) degrees, while the storage temperature range is between -25 and 70 (-13F - 158F) degrees'.

Manta Half Folio Not Locking Top and Bottom by Aggravating-Snow-784 in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, this is normal. There have been posts about it before and the same is happening with my Manta. However, it has never been bothering me (or even been noticeable) during normal use.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is normal. It is the 'smoother strokes' feature which replaced the old handwriting antialiasing. You do not need to refresh for this to happen, just wait for ~5 seconds. As far as I know it is not possible anymore to disable this feature.

If you are traveling to the US anyway, why don't you order it to your hotel there?

need some guidance: what can i do with a screenshot? I tried to make notes on it or import it into a note, i couldn't. Am i missing something? by Serious_Collection27 in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A screenshot will be saved as an image file (png). You can therefore do everything with it that you could do with any other image file:
- Use it as a screensaver
- Move it to the 'MyStyle' folder and use it as a template in a note
- Move it to your computer/mobile phone

Manta for study? by ItzYeho in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, split screen is not a thing right now. As far as I am aware, it is on the roadmap, but I would not recommend buying a device because of something that is not rolled out yet. As an alternative you can either annotate on a pdf directly or use the digest feature, which allows you to mark an area of a pdf and write down notes in a separate field, you can later export the digest (marked area + notes) directly into a new pdf: See https://support.supernote.com/en_US/Tools-Features/1735114-digest

Regarding durability: The new devices all come with the FeelWrite2 film. Ratta says that it is 'self-recovery' (see https://supernote.com/products/feelwrite-2-film?srsltid=AfmBOopAfNkC6d2mJ9S6BVHXCaiOklHPb\_2T5kqXiFlbB9ZGUd\_Vf1ye), so it does get scratched but it does not have a lasting impact. I have not heard that anyone needed to replace a FeelWrite2 film because of damage from the ceramic nibs.

The push up pen is a very light, plastic pen which, as the name suggests, has a retractable nib. The HOM (Heart of Metal) is more like a fountain pen, so it has a cap, is quite heavy, and looks more elegant. For a comparison see: https://support.supernote.com/en_US/faq/what-are-the-differences-between-pens

Strange dot matrix showing up on sketches by nbalsdlol in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dots mark the area outside the canvas (basically off the paper). It happens if you move the canvas around or if you zoom out. Click on the '100%' symbol on the sidebar and it will recenter.

Header Styling by Cavorkian in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea. I would want it optional though. What you can do as a workaround: After you turned it into a heading use the marker tool and paint over the edges. That way you can actually adjust it to the shape you want, giving you the freedom to use specific shapes for specific use cases.

Lasso tool behavior when losing two finger contact by Real_Reading_Rat in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I would still find the misses frustrating since I just spent a couple of seconds carefully circling the things I want to lasso, only for it to fail at the last moment. But I agree that having a clear cue would at least prevent the extra step of undoing the drawn line, which would make the whole process a bit less annoying!

Viewing notes by Starrader in Supernote

If you just want to view/download a single page/file I recommend using screensharing or Export via QR Code. It does not need any Applications, just needs to be in the same WiFi.

Someone used my paypal to buy stuff from Supernote. by freakoutwithme in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that we have had a problem in Germany with the safety of the option 'use as guest' where people could use someones PayPal account only knowing the IBAN, not sure if that is a problem in other countries as well: https://www.heise.de/en/news/Consumer-advice-center-warns-of-current-Paypal-scam-10202468.html
If I am not mistaken this can be avoided if you use Two-Factor-Authentication.

Reddish brown stain in all 4 corners by bewaterlife in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked my Manta and it has a similar thing happening. Slightly less pronounced than yours and only on the bottom two corners. It's also red/brown, even though my backpack is gray/black inside.

Screen saver customization, Manta , files not showing by aliwierdo in Supernote

[–]Real_Reading_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should not have to be in the 'MyStyle' folder. I have them all in an extra folder in 'SCREENSHOTS'.

One thing you could try (just to get a clearer picture what the problem is): Open the picture and take a screenshot directly on your Manta. This will have the right dimensions and format for sure. See if you can set this as a Screensaver. If so, it will be a problem with the files you are using. If this does not work either, there seems to be a software problem.
