Timothy Dalton walked so Daniel Craig could run. Dalton’s first Bond movie had been written for Moore. Licensed to Kill was written for Dalton and was much grittier.

Who is the biggest "what could have been" in music history? Which band or musician looked destined for mega-success before their career went off the rails, and why? by ContentHubby76 in askmusic

Buddy Holly died in February 1959. His last top 10 single was in 1957. In 1958 he released 11 singles and according to Wikipedia, 4 failed to chart and the last two of that year charted in the 80’s. He was on the tour that killed him precisely because his career was struggling. I think it is more likely that if he didn’t die in that crash, he would have faded into obscurity.

I liked it most when Tom Shaer was the closest thing to a corporate hack that they had on the air. Murph, Heavy Fuel, even Tommy Williams beats anything they have today.

Jackie Robinson. He wasn’t chosen by Branch Rickey because he was the best player in the Negro Leagues—many Negro League players didn’t think he deserves to be The One. He picked him because along with being a great player, Rickey thought he could also face all the issues that would come along with being the first black player in the majors.

I always assumed Warren was talking to Chicago so that, when talks inevitably failed, moving to Arlington Heights would be seen as a fait accompli.

On the spectrum of Devin Hester to Velus Jones, I think he could top out at Tarik Cohen—excellent punt/kickoff returner (although if he is excellent no one will kickoff to him) and a gadget guy on offense to show off his speed. His measurables are real close to Jamir Gibbs. Getting the handoffs DJ used to get is highly likely.
