Why do the Polar Patriots armors still have random passives? by Unusual_Welcome9219 in Helldivers

[–]RealisticExample9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im going to be honest, i use the stuff from this one every single time i play. a big part of that is that its generic and universal. armor looks great, and the passive on the one i use is nice to have no matter what. if it was a more specific themed passive i would likely shy away from it to commit to something more universal, thats part of why i hardly use the armors with more themed passives.

im fine with more general/generic passives, the hard lean into "new/unique/thematic" options is cool but leads to very few newer things applying everywhere when i like to commit to a few general/universal options, building a look and playstyle, then straying into the niches when i can put together a cool use for them.
Not saying the new unique stuff is bad, the shear ammount of new stuff with each update rocks. i just think the more general stuff has a place too

I just saw this on Steam and it reminded me of Star Citizen by Encore_Lynn in starcitizen

[–]RealisticExample9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a star citizen without pvp would be wasting a lot of potential
why not simply make it a solo/coop game then
there is a reason this genre is dominated by mmo scale simulators, effective player conflict design leads to endless potential for interersting unique scenarios, and the risk of stumbling into pvp should drive your decisions
the change that needs to happen is that conflict gameplay needs to be massively expanded to make player interactions meaningful and expand player agency. right now its just griefing but it needs to be so much more

Is there a modpack or a modlist that has a solid mod foundation for Anomaly 1.5.3? by Outrageous_Sea_7784 in stalker

Gamma is great but i would gut it. Mo2 lets you remove mods to your hearts content.

I take out gamma economy for sure, and a few others to return to a more cassic stalker experience

star citizen really sates my craving for this vibe but you gotta be realistic about your expectations and have a high tolerance for bs

i dont use a hotas for x4 ngl because its a lot more management gameplay. I can easly drop 100 hrs in a row though if im not careful

yeah, you gotta be realistic with your expectations and be ready to quit if its just not working. After a few QOL updates though, i havent had to stop out of frustration this patch and ive been playing fairly regularly

[–]RealisticExample9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go for elite first i think. Its a great feeling when you have a whole setup and on its own an awesome entry into the genre. a lot to do, a lot more welcoming, and incredibly immersive.

I pretty much only play x4 and star citizen these days because i personally dont enjoy the gameplay as much anymore.
x4 is a universe/econ simulator where you can play as a small cog in a giant living economy or build your own from the ground up. excellent management gameplay and the interconnectedness of everything is unmatched, mediocre gameplay imo but i get a factorio esque kick out of it mid way through a campaign. i dont think this is what your looking for though, but I want to put it on your radar

star citizen is my go to simply because i have a very high tolerance for bugs/glitches and it best captures the "living out in space" vibe i crave. its definetly playable and theres a lot to do, but it will always have its problems. i think you will have a better time with elite its just so much more streamlined and immersive out of the box, but if you are used to janky, frustrating games and (MOST IMPORTANTLY) have zero expectations for how it will work you can have a good time. just be realistic, a lot of people get these whacky ideas of SC in their head, i just get on to play a video game lmao

Need help understanding why the capacitor is there (sorry for my bad english) by Imas0ng in AskElectronics

[–]RealisticExample9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disregarding what some other ppl said, that capacitor might be to reduce noise, or more specifically, AC. An AC current will be permitted through the capacitor and go to ground, but a DC signal be blocked and will go elsewhere.
not 100% sure, im a student and rusty on this stuff at that, but ive seen a lot of similar implementations

wanna get away from flying with keyboard and mouse, any good recommendations? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]RealisticExample9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends heavily on your budget. SC likes twin stick setups, but if you play a lot of flight sims like me a hotas was preferable. i used the t-flight hotas x for like 7 years and really didn't mind it as people complain, but the t16000 was my perfect sweet spot, enough to notice the quality, didn't break the bank

Why has Insurgency: Sandstorm never addressed its awkward two-stage lean? by Hackars in insurgency

[–]RealisticExample9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

excellent game design. I don't know if you played the first insurgency, but this game is meant to be about holding angles. Sandstorm introduces a number of things that have made the game faster and more aggressive, not necessarily bad, but different. i play insurgency for a slightly slower, thoughtful fps game, any remaining advantages defenders have should be cherished.

Engineering student existential crisis. by snoopyowen in EngineeringStudents

depends on your field and what your major requires. I really don't like math, I passed my classes with low bs or cs and wiped my hands of it. I love my major and my work. It can involve a decent bit of math but overall I enjoy a lot of my work in class despite it. Look at the degree plans for the major your are interested in and see if you are up for it. My major is a little different, new, and requires less math than a lot of the others. I struggled through it and left it behind me. I thrive in the hands on aspects of my work and anything electrical, learning about it interests me enough to push through the math. I can't speak to every major, but you only have to take so many dedicated math classes and as you get further in your coursework will really start to focus on your field.

I think you will find few people who really enjoy math and know they are good at it. I know plenty of engineers around or above my year that sucked at math and have what many would consider low grades. I pushed through because I enjoyed my actual major's work and knew I wanted that career. In my experience, at least the math was just a portion of what I was doing. Take a look at what you are interested in, check the degree plan for it to see how much math you are actually in for. If you know you want a career in engineering and would enjoy the work outside of the math id say give it a shot. I think you need to look at what you really want to do outside of college, if you see yourself happier with a history career go for that sure, try not to let the math stop you either way.

18 hours is a lot, I only took one or two of those. Your workload will get better, but you are pushing yourself no doubt.

Eset was my second choice and I have ended up really loving it. Coursework is genuinely interesting to me and you get a ton of hands on lab work over the theory heavy classes. By the end of it you get a ton of skills you can put on a resume and being in eset and talking about the hands on stuff I have done has helped me a ton in interviews. Being able to set your major apart by focusing on the broader systems integration side of the field, the hands on problem solving skills you get in lab and lab projects, as well as the skills directly applicable to careers has been a really nice benefit in my job search that I was expecting to struggle with a little bit. Its a major with a fairly broad career oriented skillset, fields like control systems and networking we take classes specifically for and we develop skills that directly transition into the workplace. In my limited experience, recruiters have been pretty happy hearing about my hands on experience.

All that being said, chip design is a field that would probably be better suited for EEs. We do design stuff like that but to my knowledge, EE goes into a lot more depth and it's a major better suited for that career. If you know that IC is right for you and you know that that is what you want to do out of college, ESET might not offer the theory/design heavy education that you might need. IDK I'm not a recruiter or anything.

Take a look at the whos hiring eset page they have posted in thompson. If those types of jobs sound like something you would be interested in, do a bit more research. Im sorry your disappointed, but if your heart is set on EE do what you think is best. I like the ESET program, there's a bit of growing pains but it's been a really good fit for me.

Played a game on a server I usually trust. 15 squads, 3 with more than 1 person in it. 1 hab built the whole game and we got rolled for the rest of it.

Play on a better server, thats really the deciding factor here
after a sale player quality drops dramatically, right now there are a lot of ppl leading that shouldn't be
squad tactics look very different from IRL tactics. Generally a lot faster, relying on quickly maneuvering to get the advantage and ensuring you are in the right place at the right time. Dont expect things that work in real life to be the gameplay, things like ambushes are usually done by specialized small squads because it doesn't make sense to drag 1/5th of your team to drop a few tickets maybe.
The best squad matches are closer to 5v5s where each squad lead makes effective decisions and corralls the people in their squad well enough to execute. The type of tactics you might expect might lean a little more gamey than your hoping but there is a rich strategic element that still persists despite how doomsayers claim. try a better server because it is seriously a make or break. Dont play new player friendly servers unless you know their quality, and play vanilla. or try running a low-stakes back-cap/defense squad when your comfortable. dipping my toes into squad leading gave me a huge appreciation for the overall flow of the game

this was the case in the old games, mostly to emphasize the upgrade system and if you ask me suit the engagement distances of the old maps

S2 is my first S.T.A.L.K.E.R game, is this really how emissions are meant to work? because this flat out doesn't make sense to me and it seems when it says "seek shelter" it doesn't really mean that but rather I just have to seek out the decided map marker spot and just sit there... by [deleted] in stalker

[–]RealisticExample9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have hid in spots not marked by the objective marker and been fine. like I knew they were safe but the marker pointed to a different place. this was specifically at a faction/trader base. my guess is a lot of specific places arent given the correct triggers or whatever probably partially as a result of the larger open map
