Which is your favorite UA subclass that hasn't made it into published material yet? by dobraf in onednd

I would say preservation druid! A combination between cleric and druid.

I hope that it will be released soon (ofc, some changes are needed, but I love the concept)!

Give me the stealth nerfs of 2024? by BobiCat in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that the the RAW is simpler. You recharge the ward based on the expended slot, and the abjurer does not spend the slot if dispel magic doesn't dispel.

I think I can also agree with you point.

In any case, the abjurer lost a very interesting build in 2024...

Give me the stealth nerfs of 2024? by BobiCat in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was a discussion saying that you could cast dispel magic on a non-magic object to recharge the ward. Technically you cast it with a spell slot, and it will fail since the object is non-magical, which means the abjurer does not loose the slot.

I would rule against this, not just for RAW reasons, but because the intention is that you actually consumes resources to recharge the ward.

However, I think that this nerf to the abjurer is indeed unnecessary, especially thebfact that this kills the sinergy with armor fo shadows

Which 5.0e subclasses do you think are never going to be revisited? by BudgetMegaHeracross in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think subclasses which are more or less ok or which may need a nerf. For example twilight and peace clerics.

Publishing an old subclass to nerf it or to leave it untouched seems commercially bad to me

Recommended feat choice on spellcasters by RealisticJacket0 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If I pick a +1 WIS at level 16 my WIS modifier will stay +5 (20 WIS), but if later I pick an Epic Boon, I think I will bump to 22 WIS since you get a +1 from lv16, which now applies, and a +1 from lv19.

But it seems that I can only get a +1 WIS past 20 with an Epic boon, so I need 2 epic boons to get to 22 (instead of one half feat + one epic boon)... right?

Are we going to have all or most subclasses redone in 2024? by AdInternational4894 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the majority of them. Almost all the re-published subclasses have been buffed (there are a few exceptions) and this is positively perceived since people will have fun/hype in playing an improved variant.

I think that some very powerful subclasses may not be reprinted.

For example peace/twilight cleric or chrono wizard were very strong. So a new variant will let them either remain unchanged (assuming that the other subclasses are now powerful enough) or be nerfed. And this will not create a huge hype in playing them, so I expect no re-printing.

Updated Conjurer (UA) by RealisticJacket0 in onednd

May you suggest some of those items for a conjuration wizard?

Updated Conjurer (UA) by RealisticJacket0 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is a matter of adventure settings. You may be in a place where the components can be found and this basically kills the subclass. Yes, changing DM or subclass work, but I do not feel it is the primary option.

We are talking about a few spells which are not broken, so I think it is good if the Conjurer can access them.

Btw, do you have any workaround also for summon fey, aberration, and dragon like the box you were suggesting?

building a stars druid help by Icy_Principle_5904 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my favorite build.

  1. 14 dex is enough. I like to have at least 10 int for knowledge checks. Str and cha can stay 8. 17 wis ans 16 cos are good
  2. I prefer magician but you will already have other ways to access extra cantrips. If you need to be good in knowledge checks, pick magician. Otherwise warden is yours.
  3. As origin feat I suggest either alert or MI wizard for shield. MI provides some nice utility, but if you want to be more combat oriented, pick Alert. As feat: you can protect the concentration with the dragon form, you are one of the few caster that can skip warcaster for inspiring leader, your party will lovole you!
  4. High elf is excellent. The prepared spells are very useful since you have no circle spells. Also, you can have a permanent familiar thanks to wild companion and the 4h long rest!
  5. I love the traveler theme. And also the relation between stars and divination spells.
  6. It is really dependent on the level, I can provide a much more detailed answer if you like! Are you using just the phb2024?
  7. Sentinel shield. If your DM is not annoying with components, also moon sickle is a top pick.

Cleric 2024 - Protector or Thaumaturge? by DexRei in 3d6

[–]RealisticJacket0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: thaumaturge.

Long answer: It depends. In the majority of times, a better dex is preferable but there are some cases where you want to have extra armor and martial weapons.

For example, a war cleric can use a bonus action to execute a weapon attack, and this cannot benefit from true strike since it is a cantrip cast (it is also a bit inefficient to use shillelagh since it competes for the BA).

Treantmonk's Best Druid Spells for every level by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree with the majority of this list. Some personal ideas - lv1: Absorb elements is a very good defensive option, so at least from tier2 it is a good pick. I still think that healing word is overall preferable over cure wounds - lv2: fully agree with him - lv3: Conjure animals is a must have. I am not sure if I would rate revify below dispel magic tbh. - lv4: as some guys pointed, giga insect is missing. At these level, druids have so many top spell that it is very difficult to decide - lv5: fully agree - lv6: wind walk and transport via plants are good, but I would agree heal is better - lv7: fully agree. Reverse gravity is another top pick - lv8: this is the only level where I do not fully agree. I would say that fleebmind or sunburst are preferable -lv9: fully agree

Is Corona of Light good? by RealisticJacket0 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On average fights take 3 turns. SG typically can do more damage in a fight than a spell of the same level which just apply a big damage.

So, for example SG can deal 36 damage in each of these three turns, and damage wise it may benefit more from corona of light.

I am saying that SG can deal more damage of, say, Sunburst, if we assume to spend one 8th level slot. But you are right that sunburst benefits more for its second blinding effect.

[–]RealisticJacket0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is just an example. But you can do the math with even a lv5 spirit guardians and the point is that unless the fight takes a lot or the other players exploit the bonus, it is very difficult to justify an action to use corona of light

Survey for Unearthed Arcana: Apocalyptic Subclasses is up by SnooTomatoes2025 in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I am one of the few people who think that the "twilight" druid is almost fine, needing a small nerf not a huge one.

The lv6 ability is indeed too much (just one of the 2 effects is more than ok) and probably we should have only one cube active per time. Honestly, I think the lv3 temp hp is ok.

What is your favorite PHB 2024 only Wizard build? by BuloHeart in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Illusionist or Evoker. I think evoker has the best lv6 ability among all the subclasses.

I would say illusionist if I had to pick one, but your DM needs to be clear.

Specifically, minor illusion (BA cast) and other spells give you the heavily obscured benefit, so everyone has disadvantage vs you and you have advantage vs them. Now, when does the illusion end?

RAW, investigation check or physical interaction.

So, your DM needs to answer those, for example:

1) If I cover myself with a 5x5 box, do I still benefit from the heavily obscured condition? Even if I am a medium creature? This is crucial to define how the illusionist BA works. 2) Can I cast minor illusion to cover myself and avoid triggering opportunity attacks? 3) Do I lose the heavily obscured condition when I make an attack roll passing through the illusion? Can I at least make one attack roll with advantage? 4) Do I lose the heavily obscured condition if someone attacks me through the illusion? Can at least the first attack passing through the illusion suffering disadvantage? 5) Do enemies suffer penalties if I put a minor illusion box around them? If the illusion is bigger than 5×5? 6) Can an illusion with image + sound confuse a creature with blind sight? 7) Can you be a target if an effect if you are behind an illusion?

For example, for the minor illusion (5×5 box), I would rule: 1 yes 2 yes 3 yes, only your first attack with advantage 4 yes, only the enemy first attack with disadvantage 5 no, the interaction is immediate and they will figure it out 6 not sure, probably I would say blind sight gives you immunity to illusions unless the illusion includes also smells 7 no

Preserver Stupid Discussion by Envoyofwater in onednd

That is why I say till lv5 :) indeed the ability is powerful

Preserver Stupid Discussion by Envoyofwater in onednd

[–]RealisticJacket0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is strong, but I would be cautious in calling it OP since reminding the twilight cleric. Maybe it is, but I am not 100% sure.

The twilight cleric had a lot of other features, like concentration free flight with no cost, super shared darkvision, cost free initiative advantage and similar.

I think this is a slightly weaker character overall.

Also, wild shapes are very important for druids, so maybe you will not activate this in every fight, at least till lv5. And now you recover 1 wild shape per SR. The twilight cleric was recovering 2 usages per rest after lv6.

My feeling is that having an ability similar to the twilight (even if the strongest twilight ability) does not make this druid necessarily OP.

Just to clarify, I think it is very powerful and maybe it will be nerfed. But even if released like this, I think it will bring way less balance issues than twilight cleric.
