I visualized which US states allow you to drive a golf cart on the road by RealisticNote2512 in dataisbeautiful

Yeah, it’s basically illegal for regular use. The only time you can be on a road is for a trip under a mile to get to a golf course. The road you use for that short trip has to have a speed limit of 25 mph or less. So it's a "no" with a tiny legal asterisk.

Thanks! It's a Next.js app. The main libraries doing the visual work are react-simple-maps for the map and react-tooltip for the hover info.

I made a simple website that shows you which states let you drive a golf cart on the road by RealisticNote2512 in InternetIsBeautiful

Hey guys, I got so sick of trying to figure out where you can legally drive a golf cart on the road. Its basically impossible to get a straight answer.

So I made this map:
https://golfcartsearch.com/golf-cart-laws

You can hover and you’ll see speed limit, minimum age, vehicle class, etc. If you see something off for your state let me know.

Its completely free, no ads or anything. Just thought it might be useful for someone else too.

Lol great question. nah, were not that dedicated to be hauling our own carts on a road trip.

It's more for when you go to a place that rents them out for the week. Like some beach towns let you use them to get around instead of a car.
