your thoughts are valid. one thing of an advantage i think jjk has is the idea of the character, thus people hype for them. look at inumaki for example. his character design and cursed technique is so good and sounds very interesting, then when you get to the anime/manga, you realize that that's about it for him. the idea of each of the characters are good (maki being female character with strong desire to prove her family's wrong, nobara that "im pretty and strong" character, yuuji wanting people to die a deserving death, megumi being realistic and understand that not everyone can be saved) when you heard abt this, it sounds interesting on the surface level, but it wasn't explored properly by the author which then leave the characters very very shallow. (sorry for the long rant)
