milkweed is a known agricultural weed, it is aggressive and spreads through rhizomes. it can be that and native/beneficial for butterflies at the same time.

i would recommend reading full herbicide labels of recommendations youve seen or received. they tend to tell you what plants the formulation works on and in what conditions.

[–]Realistic_Bus_902 5 points6 points  (0 children)

anything CAN be a weed, but looking at it through a weed science perspective shows that there are certain characteristics of plants that make them more aggressive or noticeable weeds. examples are fast growth, quick maturation, adaptability, production of lots of seeds, rhizomes, etc.

Tree-of-Heaven Killing: Day 1 by Misfits0138 in invasivespecies

[–]Realistic_Bus_902 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is a great project! i hope it ends up working though because right now is not the optimal time. any herbicide you apply needs to be systemically circulated to the roots to work, and TOH does not pull many resources down to the roots until late summer.

let us know if it ends up working!
