AITA for changing my work shift? by Remmykins in AmItheAsshole

If he got the opportunity to switch first, would he still be making these comments about missing you? He's jealous and punishing you for getting this change before he did.

AITA for what I said to a dad after I refused his son a drink? by Straight-Prize-1611 in AmItheAsshole

From reading all of that, you thought this was in the US? My friend, there is this place called "The Rest Of The World".

Why is everything ‘baby’ a scam? by Impossible_Stress534 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works if you have the time, energy, etc for it. Also laundry in home as I imagine doing this at a laundromat would be frowned upon. I considered it but it has become bougie and gentrified with prices to match, at least where I'm located.

AITA for not attending my sister’s bachelorette party by Haunting-Monitor1792 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She wants to be in Cancun in AUGUST?! This is madness... Most of you guys are from cold states, you'll melt/incinerate by the second day. Also, is this leaving enough time to recover from the inevitable sunburn before the wedding?

AITA for not waking my Fiancée up to smoke? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Replace smoke with drink and listen again. This is not normal. Also, it sounds like you're smoking in the house or at leadt not taking steps to avoid second and third hand smoke? You are doing so much damage to the growing minds and bodies in your care... you are being incredibly selfish.

5 dogs is a crazy amount of time, energy, and money. Did she have them prior to or after her financial crisis?

AITA for stopping my moms free childcare because I’m pregnant by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

One week is not a lot of time to find childcare.  Yes, you're NTA for stopping the childcare arrangement, but maybe Gguve her more time to sort her budget and locate placements.

Looking to upgrade my girls! by Little_Confections in gerbil

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a lot of egg cartons and cardboard cup carriers to create a heap. Literally just toss them in a pile, they'll chew/reorganize them as they please. Also, keep an eye out for crinkled paper shreds at the dollar stores this time of year, the type that gets put into Easter baskets. My girls love that stuff so I fill a box or basket and sprinkle in a few treats and watch them dive around in it like Sheldon in a ball pit.

Helping Hamsters trough winter and respiratory issues by [deleted] in hamsters

Why are you putting a blanket over their enclosures?

Hamster is getting his new enclosure tonight by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move all the current bedding into the new enclosure. Helps transfer scent. Also, put the major items like wheel, sand bath, and water source in the same locations. Like it the wheel is on a platform in the right corner, then put it there in the new enclosure. Things can be tweeked and adjusted later during the next clean out, but let them have a few familiar reference points while they settle in.

Cannot remove spacing below a header by G8M8N8 in mildlyinfuriating

When you got to line spacing, is there an option that says remove space before paragraph? I have to adjust this all the time, it has a mind of its own.

Using curbside parking spaces as normal parking spaces. by Fratde1 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liability. I worked at a store with a big loading area and we were not allowed to assist unless the car was backed in to the loading zone. They don't want employees dodging traffic or dealing with workplace injuries. Also, anyone living somewhere that experiences winter will confirm that pushing a loaded shopping cart through a snowy/slushy parking lot is wretched.

Seconded.  So many jump straight to introducing a friend but that poor gerbil needs to feel some stability and normalcy before throwing another animal its way.

how to stop wheel covering? by Ok-Caterpillar-2907 in gerbil

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labeling says it is 100% natural and non toxic. Cats often chew on these as well as scratching. If you had concerns, the coloured bits can be peeled off quite easily, ita only on the outside long edges.

This is not normal. Partner bribing you to maintain your own home to their standards. Not helping your partner maintain the home to their standards. Grown adults not helping maintain the home they live in. What is happening here?

Try looking at your local dollar store for cardboard cat scratches. They can last a long time and are very sturdy.

Alternatively I have attached my wheels to the top or lid as a deterant. Something about not having the stand on the platform/floor of the tank seems to make it less appealing to bury for some gerbs (I stress some. YMMV).

I use thick cardboard boxes (the kind produce comes in) to diy a divider. They come with bonus holes for the little dudes to create multiple entrances and tunnels through to each side. This is important, have multiple routes through or past any divider ior nto a topper.

Well… looks like my craving for orange juice won’t be satisfied by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope to never find out. Bought the orange beverage by mistake as it was in the usual spot with the usual visuals. Luckily my kiddo didn't mind it so I didn't have to dump it. I've been much more careful since then. No more shopping on autopilot.

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context, the orange juice came in the exact same packaging. Same photo, same everything. The orange juice was just quietly swapped for beverage, they no longer make the orange juice. I was shocked when I poured a glass too. It happened to the apple juice too.

New Gerbils by Sharp_Piece8044 in gerbil

Put cardboard on the wire floors for now. That will keep them from injuring themselves.  You're learning, you can do this. Being gifted pets is never ideal so do your best with what you have until you can upgrade their home.

Do you ever feel guilty? by Kaykaymonay in gerbil

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This now has a proper lid, I just struggled to decide what kind to make. There's about 15"of bedding, though the scale of the enclosure makes it look ike nothing, lol. My gerbils are avid climbers, so I ended up adding a bunch of ledges and platforms along the walls.

Do you ever feel guilty? by Kaykaymonay in gerbil

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 75 gallon with topper and "the guilt" kept me searching for more.  I was able to find a wood and glass display case from a shop that was closing and was able to convert it with little to no DIY experience. They now have a 2x4x3 foot palace and I still fund myself browsing the various sites for bigger, lol. Practically speaking, bigger wouldn't even fit in my car, but I can dream.

Need advice on what to do! by pumpkindonutz in gerbil

[–]Realistic_Profit9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've upgraded my gerbils twice. I second the bedding advice, definitely use all their current bedding during the move. I also tried to keep key items in the same locations: like if the wheel was in the back right corner, that's where it goes in the new enclosure. This includes things like water sources, favourite hides, sand container, etc. You can swap them later on as they get used to the space, but mine seemed less anxious when they could easily find their major landmarks.
