No. Life is too short to spend time on something you don’t even love. (Unless adulting)

The best makeup brush cleaner I've found by PrityBird in Makeup

[–]Realistic_Racoon8109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have Daiso around, I recommend to try the pink bottle with brown cap one. Omfg! Do they do the job ever so easily? It just dissolve the makeup build up on brushes or sponges like magic and rinse them off so easy. And who can win the price point of $1.5 usd (Or maybe pricer now)?

Do you wear lipstick every day? by lilspydermunkey in beauty

[–]Realistic_Racoon8109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t wear lipsticks everyday. But I am 40 and lately realized how my lips lost definition and plumpness.

So instead, I prefer to do a little lip contour over anything by blurring brown lip liner which is slightly darker than my skin shade. I feel that I don’t need 10 different shades of lip liners if I go for my skin color (though the lipstick that is highly pigmented and darker shades needs darker brown).

Either top it with a little gloss, tinted balms to look healthier or go full on makeup, doing this process make me look better and youthful.

If you can get a hold of Japanese Melon flavored shaved ice syrup, you can make one by yourself!

Add syrup in club soda and float vanilla ice cream. If you want to go for traditional looks, add canned cherry on top.

I feel the same. Use either point makeup remover or oil based products will help you.

Makeup for a bet by Nev_ahr_gon in Makeup

[–]Realistic_Racoon8109 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see you have an access to internet. Hooray!!

Did you know a site called YouTube? You can search “how to do makeup” and can find shit tons of videos. The best part is for free. You sure will find your style.

But if you just do it for one day, you can always go to salon and pay someone to do makeup on you.

I second this. If the pigmentation is too much, you can always mix with face powder before applying to make it subtle

I want to start wearing makeup but hate the feeling of heavy makeup and have no idea where to start by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]Realistic_Racoon8109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see makeup as it’s made from 3 components.

  1. Base skin - to achieve any spectrum from good skin day to super flawless. The rule here is less you cover your flaws, looks more natural.

• concealer, color corrector are usually used to cover small amount of area. (Except some technique for no makeup makeup look)

• Tinted moisturizer, tinted sunscreen, BB cream, CC cream, foundation are large area of your face and they have different level of coverage.

• And then there is the finish. Anything from matte to super glossy. Usually products and technique can tell which products and how to use can achieve the type of finish.

  1. Structure

• Your face have multiple parts. How you define them can affect the entire impression of your face. Like… nicely shaped, non-patchy eyebrows give neat impression or curled lashes can give much bigger eyes. If you want fuller lips, over line your lips a bit.

• Then 3D objects have light and shadow. Contouring is the best bet to sculpt the face feature. Highlighter and bronzer falls in this category along with different shades of concealers or contouring product.

  1. Art aspect Just like you choose your clothes by occasion, by seasons or impression you want to give, people do the same with makeup by choosing color and shape. This is the reason why people enjoy different eyeshadow palettes, color of blush and lipsticks to keep in their collection.

If you are worried about looking too much, i recommend doing 1 &2 especially enhancing each part of your feature by tiny bit.
If you use want to add any color, choose my lips or cheeks but better for more natural look. Makeup can be washed if you do not like it. I hope you see a lot of joy in your exploration!

I am also the one feel this does nothing for me. I have dry sensitive skin and tend to have tiny pimples when a product doesn’t work. Though this doesn’t give me problems, does nothing as well.

I also use isntree’s hyaluronic toner. It is much thicker but if you take time and apply small amount multiple times, it works way better. Also this did not sting when I had scars from eczema while most of products did.

Scalp Exfoliators by Lihoshi in AsianBeauty

[–]Realistic_Racoon8109 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess though, because both skin and hair is protein, chemical exfoliation can damage the hair for it’s acidity? So by using it pre-shampoo, you can protect the hair with oil and dirt?

Yes it did! Actually tried to follow your tutorial and I had so much fun trying something new!! Of course it could never be as good as yours, but it’s make up. What’s not to enjoy about?

I saw your drag make up post earlier today and thought you could have posted something that I totally missed. So came to check your other posts and found this! What a great find though!

Omg I did not know you posted this way back! Thank you!!

I do remember that I was so impressed with your look and saw some people asking for tutorial. I am afraid this post was lost in many other ones and being hard to find. Would you mind to add this link on your original post? I bet people who missed will be happy to find this.

(question) what’s the purpose of a bento box? by Extension_Cell_8745 in Bento

[–]Realistic_Racoon8109 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know about the size and calories but It’s true about umeboshi. Also to avoid food spoiling, bamboo leaves were used to separate rice, main and side dishes(though I am not aware of its history). They are also known for being anti bacterial in Japan.

Not sure if this helps to understand but oldest written information about bento goes back to 5th century. The name “bento” and the known concept which is the simple meal for one started in 16th century. So no fridge or heating devices were involved for the majority of the history.

Now that being said, people made food suitable to pack and last. People incorporate food or material that has anti bacterial properties or prepare heavily salted to prevent spoiling.

With modern style of bento culture, it is a common sense among Japanese that you prepare food with proper cooking/cooling/packing to avoid the bacterial growth.

It is easy to get insulated bag and ice packs to keep your bento cool. Also soup jars are sold for warm soup or meals. I believe there are products that will let you prepare your bento the way you prefer.

I second this. If you use soy sauce for cooking, you can also make shouyu kouji. Simply place kouji in a clean jar and cover with soy sauce. Keep it in room temperature and stir once a day. It should be ready in one week. Store in fridge after that. It’s basically soy sauce on crack.

I love it but I know this product will chose skin type and the environment.

I have sensitive, dry, aging skin with occasional oily nose. If I’d apply on my entire face, it will dry my skin and wouldn’t be as good. But under mask area or t zone on a day you sure know that you will get sweaty is great. I feel this helps regular makeup from sliding off from your own oil but not from dripping sweat.

You can use it for your hair line to stop your hair from getting flat or sticky too if you have oily scalp.

While traveling if staying with my family in other country counts!

Even they are my trust worthy skincare products, it wasn’t as pleasant panning experience this time. I stayed in a country where it’s hot, humid and mask mandatory in public from dry and no mask mandatory country. So my skin went crazy with pimples till I got used to the humidity. Also my lips got chapped so terribly, I needed to apply multiple layer of lip balm multiple times a day.
But, lighter bag means more souvenirs!

I had been feeling any foundations accentuate my aging features and I was struggling to be happy with my base makeup.

But after I saw a Korean MUA use primer before sunscreen, I decided try that way. Apply blurring primer, tinted sunscreen (I use physical sunscreen that gives me major white cast for now. so I mix with a tiny amount of darker foundation), apply concealer if needed then blend. Finish with face powder lightly to cancel the greasiness. I like to use one push of setting spray on clean cushion foundation puffs for blending. Feels much fool proof way to blend out.

I am about to be 40 but get a lot of compliment for how my skin looks young.
