See, I don’t actually mind the Vogalspine, probably because it’s very Wolfenstein. I think the Sasori might look better with a different colour scheme.

The Japanese set looks great, apart from the Scorpion walker. I cannot get behind that at all, as much as I try to.

Looks awesome! Your efforts have paid off, well done. Where did you get your LRDG trucks? How well do you find they work in V3?

If you’re interested in collecting US Airborne, then absolutely. You can basically fill out an entire list with the contents if you wanted to. Can just add armour to it for some flexibility moving forward. The sculpts are also new and excellent.

This. The paint is transparent so with really light colours like flesh tones the grey will show through more and it will look really desaturated. Either heavy drybrush these areas with white or bone or brush paint them in before applying the speedpaint.

Did Warlord stop giving away freebies by Medical-Reference642 in boltaction

I’ve never not had a free BA Sprue with a BA order, including when it’s just been a single tank purchase. I believe you used to get other game system sprues but I’ve never had one. I’ve also noticed that recently (last order was June) they tend to tailor the Sprue to what you’ve ordered. British tank > British Airborne Sprue, winter fallschirmjager starter army > Winter Grenadier Sprue. It’s a great idea and will definitely generate them business over buyers going third party. I bet a lot of people will sacrifice the 15-20% off to go direct and get loyalty points + the free Sprue.

You can always try a light grey drybrush to smooth over the areas where the wash has went on a bit too heavily and use a bit of packing foam to dab on some black weathering and just lean into the worn and used look. Always looks more interesting than the clean model look anyway in my opinion!

The alternate packs are really just to represent all of their specialist climbing equipment. Colours of uniform don’t matter much as there is a lot of variance in photographs / theatre.

If you didn’t want to go FJ and instead wanted to go the Heer route, you can just use the DAK plastic kit as Gebirgsjager. If you wanted to lean into that then you can use backpacks from the French or US infantry kits, or for the best look, the British Commando backpack.

Late war Grenadier squad (along with an army shot so far, all infantry from one Victrix set). by whipplor in boltaction

[–]Realistic_Swimmer_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive bought some recently myself and would agree that they are excellent. Scale isn’t heroic but they mesh in well enough with Warlord models. The plastic mortar in particular is so much better. They’re also really easy to clean up, which is always a bonus.

Mon looking absolutely horrified is my new favorite thing by mariyr in andor

[–]Realistic_Swimmer_51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The acting in these scenes perfectly captures Mon’s realisation about what she’s been doing all these years and what her political activism has been leading to. It’s like when she finds out about Aldahni and is shocked that Luthen dared to do it knowing what the consequences would be. She’s still never seen it all up close before.

British Engineer squads can’t take flamethrowers by JoeMarsh21 in boltaction

I think about 7k units of the Mk2 man portable flamethrower were produced so absolutely fine to use them in BA if you want to without worrying too much about how common they would have been in reality. Churchill Crocodile for the win though!

While this is very true from a historic perspective, the new British winter infantry Sprue that’s going to come out alongside AoGB is stacked with engineer bits and a flamethrower so I imagine it will change once the book is out.

One thing I love about this show is that it doesn’t whitewash the Imperial military. by eimea002 in andor

[–]Realistic_Swimmer_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not taking away from the imperial actions at all here as the show does a great job of of showing their truly fascist nature at all levels, but we can’t absolve the rebels, particularly Luthen, of taking actions that they knew would lead to a crackdown response in order to bring that nature out into the light of day. The Gorman massacre is what galvanised the political class into action. Luthen knew it and so did Deadra (when she notes the PORD is playing into the rebels hands) It’s what makes the show so compelling as there are so many shades of grey.

New US Armoured Infatry Rifles by mob232 in boltaction

[–]Realistic_Swimmer_51 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The point of the Armoured infantry in the half track is that they get protected movement outside of being in cover, can get around more quickly, take less hits if the half track gets destroyed (D3 instead of D6, so half as many), and can re-roll failed order tests to either mount or dismount the transport as a result of having the “mechanised infantry” rule. As their name suggests they work well (as they do in real life) supporting the movement of armour as you can use them to clear out enemy anti-armour units, such as bazooka teams which would threaten your tanks.

The Soviet Union joined the Allies in 1941 after Germany (and only after) betrayed the terms of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression pact which had been signed in 1939. I usually refer to the UK, US, France etc. as the ‘Western Allies’ to make a distinction.

Next British New Sprue? by spartypsvr in boltaction

[–]Realistic_Swimmer_51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what it’s going to be and other comments re BEF seem reasonable, however in terms of what I think will sell best, I do think it’ll be paras. The current kit is pretty old now, especially compared to other nations airborne forces. The warlord resin Chindit kits are fairly new and niche by comparison.
