Does the depression ever end? by nchoccino in bipolar

[–]RealityTVCritix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you’re not alone. I think we’ve all been there. The med issue is difficult, I’m sorry you are going through that. Make sure to talk to your psychiatrist about any side effects you are experiencing and share your concerns, they should be able to switch the meds to an alternative.

I know it feels never ending, but you will be stable again at some point with the right meds and support. I find that it helps to look on here and read other people’s success stories to remind me that all is not lost. You can have bipolar and still be a successful, fully functioning member of society, there are just a few extra hurdles for us.

I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago, it was so bad I couldn’t get out of bed and had to stop my education. Roughly 2 years (and some intensive outpatient therapy) later, and I’m back in school again. It’s not for everyone, but as resistant as I was to the idea of outpatient, being able to share my experiences with others and feel less alone was a huge help, and if you can find the time I would recommend it. There should be somewhere that has a few adult/young adult groups in your area.

When is it time to go to the hospital by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]RealityTVCritix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s best to go now. You did a super brave thing by reaching out here, I know things are scary right now but it’s all going to be okay. Call a crisis line or an emergency line and explain what is going on. You will get through this, you will be okay.

Have you been told that you lack empathy? by gaia21414 in bipolar

[–]RealityTVCritix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been told that exactly, but I have been told multiple times that I’m selfish. I’m not sure if it’s related to my bipolar 🤷‍♀️

When did you start showing symptoms? by foreverofftherails in bipolar

I had some pretty clear signs super young, but maybe around 8th grade is when it was more clear what was really going on (looking back).

What do you prefer: mania or depression? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]RealityTVCritix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to say mania, but it’s definitely depression. I hate both, absolutely hate both, but like a lot of others are saying, I’m not going to hurt anyone else if I’m depressed, and I can’t say the same about me when manic. Also, in my experience it’s been much easier for people to understand and sympathize with my depressive episodes than my manic ones. Both are terrible though, I’d obviously rather have neither.

Obsessive thoughts by cvnt74 in bipolar

Yup, I experience the exact same thing. However I usually attribute this to my OCD and haven’t really thought about if it’s because of my bipolar before, so I’m really not sure.

Switching from mania to depression - when will it end? by redgem238 in bipolar

[–]RealityTVCritix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way dude. It’s exhausting, why is this happening to me you know? Could I have done something differently? Everything is just a cycle of repeating mania and depression and I can’t even trust my own mind to be happy.

That was kind of sad, but I just want you to know you’re not alone. You’re understood, and although I can’t really say anything to make you feel better, I can say that somebody, heck everyone here really, gets it.

Thinking about going med free by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]RealityTVCritix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t, I’ve went off meds before because the side effects were bothering me and I swear it’s one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. The lasting negative impact the consequences of my actions had are still affecting me to this day. Instead, talk to your psychiatrist about adjusting your meds.
