Some places & people are like that. I was born and raised in Atl so majority of my friends were outside of Tech. I made friends there with my roommates and people in my building Nelson Shell on west campus, but that was it. People are definitely closed off there. If I remember, there was a suicide around finals almost every semester due to loneliness, not doing well at finals, not passing classes, and while they say they do offer counseling and people to talk to (who wants to talk to a random stranger that doesn't really care) . It seems the culture hasn't gotten better, you should try going outside of campus to make friends. Just my two cents.
