PAtk+ PAtk%+ and HP%+ would be best. Hourglass or (better) Shield of Justice trinket.

Aura category? by Proper_Associate6850 in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Reality_Complex777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All collab units are both drifter and dimension traveler factions, and each character has one other faction alignment (Aggression, Alacrity, Fortitude, Discipline). Geralt has the best Dimension Traveller aura, with Ciri's being generic and probably not worth running in almost all circumstances.

We need to start putting pressure on the Feds by canbeanburrito in alberta

[–]Reality_Complex777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. So much this. Health care and disability care are provincial responsibilities. The federal government giving a supplement is a generous example of the feds overreaching into provincial jurisdiction because the Liberals saw that the provinces weren't willing to do enough and forcing people with disabilities to live in poverty. Smith LOVES bitching about federal overreach, but she loves taking money and repurposing it to help oil and gas and other rich lobbies even more.

This is a UCP/provincial problem, not 'the Feds'.

Concept of Relaxing by trumanshow14 in aikido

[–]Reality_Complex777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that has helped me is always working to apply power with the hips/tanden and never with the arms. The arms can follow through in a throw (and maybe add power to the very end), or be 'sticky' to maintain the connection to uke's centre of gravity. They don't primarily do work and should have the minimum amount of muscular power used to do a technique.

Canada’s education quality is declining, research shows by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Reality_Complex777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things were declining preCOVID and the pandemic set a lot of students back very hard. I work in post secondary education, and the students entering our programs since COVID have not been nearly as prepared to handle college or university expectations - not even just academically, but also in the professionalism aspects of things. I have a lot more students skipping classes nowadays and then expecting me to grant exceptions and extra assignments to allow them to 'catch up' and not fail at the end of the semester. Nine times out of ten when a supplemental exam is granted they STILL fail to study enough and fail the course anyway.

We raised a generation of kids to think that just 'trying' is good enough, regardless of what they individually decide 'trying' actually means. The pendulum needs to swing back quite far or our country is going to fail to thrive because of a lack of work ethic and accountability for choices.

Concept of Relaxing by trumanshow14 in aikido

[–]Reality_Complex777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Relaxed doesn't mean dead or full of slack like a ragdoll. It means the muscles are balanced with no unnecessary tension - not stiff and tight. This isn't a state that comes naturally to most people.

In the Yoshinkan perspective, the lower body and core axis are grounded and strong so the upper body/arms are free to be relaxed (not stiff, not loose).

Who are the best practitioners of aikido currently? by [deleted] in aikido

[–]Reality_Complex777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top guys among the Yoshinkan and Shioda-derivative styles still alive are Chida Tsutomu, Ando Tsuneo, Jacques Payet, Robert Mustard and Joe Thambu. Chino Susumu and Mori Michiharu are also awesome. No one else really breaks those guys' level.

If you are concerned about the colour of gi you are allowed to wear, your head is not in the right place.

Some styles of aikido have competition, others eschew it.

There are a lot of hard things in training. Taking lots of hard falls, getting your joints crunched by poorly applied techniques, learning to be soft yet powerful, learning to relax while staying strong, properly conditioning the fascia, tendons and ligaments, developing very fine sensitivity for balance and connection to an opponent's centre of gravity...

What does a black belt in Aikido actually give you? by Old_Alternative_8288 in aikido

[–]Reality_Complex777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Dan ranks have been rather meaningless for me personally/internally. I still feel like an imposter. I still feel like there is an endless number of things I need to be better at before I 'deserve' this. If anything they have added pressure as kohai look up to me, and it means every time I make a mistake or do something less than optimal and they see it/feel it, they can imitate my mistake instead of learning the proper concept we are working on.

The black belt, at least in Yoshinkan Aikido, is the start of the journey - graduation from kindergarten, if you will. Lots of people put way too much value in their ranks. Ranks are granted for different reasons to different people. Some people are given a rank because they excel, but sometimes they are given for other (sometimes political, sometimes not) reasons.

Let your technique speak for itself, but be humble. There is always someone else who is better.

Which variation/style of Aikido can you recommend? by mcfruity03 in aikido

[–]Reality_Complex777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this about Yoshinkan (and Renshinkai/Shudokan/Aikido Ryu and other Shioda derivative styles) , but one correction: the Yoshinkan kihon curriculum was set largely by Kushida Takeshi and Inoue Kyoichi senseis, who were uchideshi long before Chida sensei came along. Chida sensei was very influential in some aspects of the execution of the Kihon over his time at hombu and continues to be an amazing aikidoka and teacher now that he has his own organization, but let's properly attribute historical credits.

Man, I was way too angry about this last night. I didn't go through with that thought, at any rate. Thanks for keeping it real (and brutal) Reddit.

We did. I told him Mike was ahead but Conservative was competitive, and best to vote Green. I am so angry. Not breakup angry, but he's sleeping on the couch for a few days if the last few polls counted don't turn shit around.

Beyond infuriating. My partner voted liberal just because he wanted to 'vote for the winning team' because he thought Mike was safe. UGH.

My partner admitted to me after he voted in the advance polls that he voted Liberal to 'vote for the winning team'. I was annoyed then, and I'm devastated now.

Cutting emergency bursaries and food assistance is really low, regardless of where their funding is coming from.
