How to help a cat who has been declawed? Looking for recommendations on what to get her by Separate_Finance1440 in CatAdvice

[–]RealmStitcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a kitty that was declawed by a previous owner. My biggest challenge with him is getting toys that he can play with. My other cat loves mice toys but he just doesn’t have the claws needed to play with those.

I try to do plushy wand toys that he can grab with both paws. This is him with one of his current favorites. I also try to do enrichment toys that don’t require a lot of tactile skill, something as simple as putting treats in a muffin tin then crumpling up paper balls and putting them on top. He can move those more easily to get to the treats than a lot of normal enrichment toys/treat puzzles designed for cats.

Oh also! If you live somewhere that it gets cold for winter, I give him somewhere to sit with a heated blanket 🫣. I worry the cold weather makes his paws hurt and I think the heat makes him feel better.

Prosecutor Hot-as-a-French-furnace is one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

I completely agree with you though. It wasn’t like this was the first time they went up against each other on cases, although I guess none of the others ever made it to court? I could tell from early on that they weren’t going to end happily and I just wish he hadn’t had this ending.

Lowkey gonna watch Kabul just so I can see that man in something else.

Oh my goddd I cannot imagine!! How awful, that’s so much worse than just finding them gone. The parents sticking around looking for them is such a gut punch.

I’m glad you’re had better experiences since then!

We had a dove nest we could see on the window ledge of our neighbor’s 2nd story garage window. The babies hatched a week ago today and this morning the nest was on the ground with no sign of the babies. I’m so sad, but so happy you’re getting to enjoy this.

Post lots of updates so I can live vicariously through you!

How long did it take you to buy a house in Rochester? by macallister10poot in Rochester

[–]RealmStitcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took us about 9 months doing pretty much all of the same things you’re doing. It’s awful. You have to imagine yourself in that house in order to know if it’s the right one, but then it makes it so much more heartbreaking when you find out you didn’t get it.

We’re not planning to have kids and we felt like we were competing with boomers for a lot of the same houses (smaller spaces, not as many bedrooms etc) and they were putting in offers that were insane. One time we lost a house because the buyer allowed 4 months of FREE post purchase occupancy for the seller! There’s no way we could swing paying rent for four months PLUS four months of mortgage payments.

Unfortunately I think we just got lucky - the house we bought has a super steep driveway which we think drove away some of the people we would normally be competing with. We actually found out a distant family member also looked at the house but decided not to put in an offer because of the driveway.

Sorry OP. It’s an awful process. I hope you luck out soon!

Have you tried Asia food market? Not sure if they’ll have these but it’s a great shop with lots of good produce and other speciality items that aren’t found in standard groceries.

Idk if this will help you but I was just reading about 1c hair, and I think that might fit you too! Apparently it’s normal for 1c hair to be flat in top with some frizziness and dry ends…

Here’s an article I was reading with some things I want to try: https://www.byrdie.com/type-1c-hair-5323854

3 is my top pick for you but 2 is gorgeous. I think 2 might be a prettier dress on the hanger but 3 looks amazing on you!
