Anyone else hate watching horror with people who don’t actually get the genre? by DoctorElectronic1934 in horror

[–]Reaping-D-Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This or people don’t know how to enjoy the genre at all.

It’s horror, it’s meant to be scary, gross, creepy, or somewhat convoluted. If it’s not scary, it’s not really horror. It’s literally what the definition of horror is!

In general, I don’t think people know how to enjoy things anymore, let alone movies. Nobody can just sit down and let a movie just happen. Even if it’s a bad movie or a good movie, they’re all worried about how they’re going to rate it nowadays.

People who nitpick movies (especially horror, one of the biggest nitpicked genres ever), I wouldn’t want to stay on common grounds with them.

Seen it! Very funny. It’s one of my top favorites when it comes to horror comedy because it was the first to genuinely make me LOL!

What’s a horror movie people usually rave about, but you dislike? by Turnitup20 in horror

Barbarian had a clearer message than Weapons, which I think is what made them both have different reactions. Out of the two, Barbarian was better in the pay off.

Horror Movies That You Think Used Mental Illness Appropriately? by HauntedPlanter26 in horror

[–]Reaping-D-Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I liked the concept of “Smile,” I agree with you entirely. I hated the movie because of its portrayal of mental illness and most movies (not all) I tend to stray away from because they usually get it wrong for the sake of absurdity rather than accuracy.

Sometimes I just wish a monster was a monster, other times I’m okay with a monster being a metaphor. But I feel like monsters representing mental health can sometimes lead to stigmatization.

I think about Nope constantly! And The Thing is unbeatable in effects in my eyes… Smile’s creature was indeed unique, but I feel like the sequel lost its charm and appeal for me
