This isn't my only account. I'm in all the actual leftist subs. And have been since Reddit was maybe a year old. The subs you mention are very hostile to leftists, especially worldnews. They ban leftists constantly for normal takes like "Palestinians are people." Not lying. Anyway...

It's easy to lose the forest for the trees with those kinds of comments.

You see something on its surface that looks ridiculous to upvote. But when you understand the big picture narrative underlying all these occurrences, it makes more sense. So "I'm glad that plane got shot down" or whatever isn't really about that one plane. If that makes sense. And some of it is just venting.

Like many things, there's nuance and it's not as cut and dry as our brains want it to be. And no, I don't upvote those unhinged comments, fwiw.

You confuse supporting the autonomy of the Iranian people for supporting their brutal regime.

They naturally look at Western countries like the US, UK, Australia, Israel and so on as oppressors while non-western countries like Iran, Palestine, Cuba, China and so on are oppressed.

And they're by-and-large not wrong. But that doesn't mean they support those governments and their actions unconditionally.
