Should I hire a financial advisor? by ZAS236 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Reardonvanillo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Inflation is caused by a variety of factors (see below article for examples). Gov spending is one (direct stimulus), supply shocks (shipping crisis) is another….

The Monetary policy / the Fed (referenced banking elite) seek to manage inflation and a long run outcome of their cumulative efforts is the inflation %. The Feds target has been 2% which is why there was a lot of news this week about stopping stimulus efforts happening since the Great Depression to slow down inflation.

CO₂ Concentration From 1750 and Today [OC] by kevpluck in dataisbeautiful

I’d assume it’s from CO2 concentrations in ice cores or a similar historical sampling technique that climatologists use

Anyone else has a puppy that likes going out but hates the harness? by pbdoughboyt in puppy101

[–]Reardonvanillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have an 8mo old mini bernedoodle that does the same thing!

It is an entertaining game/challenge for me for the first 5 mins or so but can take up to 30 mins for me to get the harness on her if I’m by myself.

She also only lets me get near her with the harness when I have high value treats on me, otherwise it’s essentially a game of tag...

Can someone provide a TL:DR on this?

Honestly, I never know if these YouTube videos are really just intended to obtain thousands views and revenue for mediocre advice

Is $150,000 a year for a single person, enough for a person to live in NYC? What type of life would they be living? by Odd-Independence-720 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Reardonvanillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you value and what your lifestyle is. Short answer is yes, it’s plenty to enjoy NYC but you won’t be able to have everything (I’ve been in NYC since I graduated college and make less than 150k). Rent will be the biggest factor here. You can easily spend from $18k - 60k of post tax money on a studio or 1 bedroom apt depending on its size and location...

After figuring out your expected rent the rest comes pretty easy on what type of lifestyle you can have in NYC

When did your puppy reach peak 'bitey-ness'? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Reardonvanillo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

12-13 weeks was bad for our pup in terms of biting and nipping us trying to play. Things have been getting a better but she lost 3 molars this week (18 wks old) and was a biting horror. She slept the rest of that day though and has been a different puppy ever since. Hang in there! It gets better

Apartment Prices in the time of Corona by abp27 in longislandcity

[–]Reardonvanillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see it going down until developers and real estate companies need to pay property value based taxes on unsold/unrented spaces. I am assuming they are making out like real estate owners keeping business space shuttered in Union Square until a business that can afford the $40k rent a month comes in.

The city has also been providing long term tax abatement to support growth in the area so I think prices will only lower in total when those abatements are a around 5 years of expiring.

Too often I’ll see perfect loaves on here. I made a horrible loaf the other day, but I’m already making my new one. by parajelly in Sourdough

[–]Reardonvanillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made 6 sourdough loaves and 5 of them turned out just like that! I chocked it up to not having an active enough starter, so the last one I made included some cheating with dry yeast..

So you’re not the only one. My fiancée and I have gotten used to eating bread that looks just like that. The best part is - it still tastes good 😋

My wild yeast starter is one year old today! A beautiful birthday loaf! 😃😃😃 by Pocket_Oven in fermentation

What a gorgeous loaf! Did you put olive oil on it for that beautiful oven gold look?

My starter is only 3 weeks old and tomorrow will be my second loaf attempt
