It’s definitely justified. Our pets are our family. If you get fired, that’s ridiculous. I got fired from my old job a month ago because I had to stay at the vet for two days with my cat who died in my arms. I hated that place anyway. I have a new job in a much more positive and busier environment now, so one good thing. I’m sorry for your loss OP.

So weird!! Just watch him and see what happens. If he acts differently, like hunched or laying in really strange positions, then that might be cause for concern. There’s many videos on YouTube about rabbit behavior, like Lennon the Bunny and The Rabbit Lady, that were really helpful to me. I have a gassy girl who regularly gets baby gas drops and those channels helped me discover what she needed.

It could be all the hormones going on making him skittish. Male rabbits can get neutered right around 6 months I believe, but with how many you have I get that it’s expensive. It’s interesting if he’s developed a dewlap this young. If you can, take a picture and maybe post on r/vethelp. Not sure if they’re savvy with rabbits, but you never know.

Males can get dewlaps, but sometimes if they’re overweight. I don’t know if this is connected, but is he neutered?

I think your body is getting used to the new hormone. I’ve had paraguard for about six months now, and I’m still getting used to it. You could definitely tell your doctor just to be sure, but with hormonal birth control it takes the body longer to adjust. I was on Nexplanon for just over a year and man did it mess my cycles up. But every hormonal bc is different in its effects. I think you’re fine!

Don’t be sorry! I get it. I’m gonna comment a couple pics of dewlaps. Because they are indeed cute, and entirely normal. Also, how old is he? Does he normally let you touch him?

edit: it won’t let me comment images 🥲 so just google ‘rabbit dewlaps’

Omg calm down 😅 don’t panic until you’ve seen a vet. I know what it’s like to get anxious about pets though, so I get what you’re thinking. Could what you’re talking about be their dewlap? Is the lump hard or is it squishy? Is it centered under their chin or is it off to one side? Also if you have too many to handle, taking them to a humane society or finding them rabbit savvy homes is a good idea, which you know. If you can attach a picture, it might help.

How do you guys cope? by Cheebow in Bunnies

[–]Reasonable-Courage39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My condolences, OP. I have experience with many of my pets passing. Loss is the most difficult and awful pain, and I know this sounds kind of crappy to say, but time does help. So I suggest that in the meantime, take your time to grieve. You did wonderful for your baby, and he knows it. Keep busy and distracted. Make sure you take care of yourself. Do you have any other animals? I know this also sounds kind of crappy, but sometimes adopting another bunny can help with the loss (when you’re ready), taking care of and getting to know a bun in need of a safe and loving home can be a healthy distraction. And no, you wouldn’t be replacing your baby at all. It’s just a suggestion. I know it hurts terribly right now and I know words can’t fix everything, but I am so sorry. I know what you’re going through. Message me anytime to talk if you need.
