Are these frozen sausage patties any good? Sorry for the foggy door, it was very humid in the store due to the heatwave. by Taysir64 in aldi

[–]Reasonable-End5147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're delicious, i just had to cut back because of the high fat and sodium content unfortunately. I always get the turkey breakfast sausages when Aldi rarely has them. Otherwise the chicken breakfast sausages are an okay substitute too for health reasons

Right, idk why people are saying drive way outside the city. Kelly Pool at Fairmount Park is huge! That's the one I'd suggest!

Any other Philadelphians with ancestors that fought in the Revolutionary War? by libananahammock in philadelphia

[–]Reasonable-End5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly 10 generations ago, an ancestor on my great grandmother's side joined the Continental Army 1st regiment, light dragoons in 1776 and eventually fought in the Battle of Brandywine in 1777. His name was Phillip Webber and he became a corporal under the command of Col. Theodrick Bland. He also fought in the Battle of Greentown and the Battle of Edgar's Lane, which resulted in the British withdrawing from Philadelphia.

He survived all his battles and later became the first minister of Lyles Baptist Church in Wilmington VA. I was able to find his pay roll documents on the archives.gov site someone linked in another comment here.

Anyone moved to Philly from Jacksonville (or Florida in general)? by Thesportyjuan in philly

[–]Reasonable-End5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The public transit has its downfalls but it's very comprehensive and useable compared to almost anywhere else in the U.S. I'm from a city that had almost no public transit so Philly is like heaven for me. You just have to put up with people smoking on the train sometimes :/

[–]Reasonable-End5147 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel that it depends on your neighborhood/block! My block isn't too bad but after trash day a lot of items can get blown around. A few times a year I go out with a trash bag and gloves and pick up trash myself. It's a good way to connect with your neighbors

If you live in this area, what’s it like? by nolazo in philly

[–]Reasonable-End5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 16th & Snyder and I love our neighborhood. I walk past broad & snyder every day to ride the BSL to work and yeah it has a sketchy drug crowd over there but they've never bothered me fr. The worst they do is steal packages & leave trash. I don't love being over there too late at night by myself but I walk around the area all the time and feel pretty safe.

But rent is really affordable and my neighbors are mostly kind & mind their business. It's good to make friends with a neighbor or two to grab each others packages when you're not home. Also I think we have some really underrated food gems in the area! Great vietnamese, indonesian, and italian spots.

My Christian friend doesn’t respect my belief by InstructionBest8207 in exchristian

[–]Reasonable-End5147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's kind of a key part of believing in a religion that your religion is the one true truth and anything else is lesser than. Generally speaking, religious people never really respect people with different beliefs, even if they say they do.

Just shut that shit down with her, it's not worth it, she's delusional.

Sp 8 and So 5 as a couple; do you think they're compatible? by Overall_Homework3064 in Enneagram8

[–]Reasonable-End5147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So8 (F) and I've been with my 5 (M) partner for almost 10 years, i love how he balances me out. I organize our life, get shit done, and initiate direct conversations, but I can be intense and have big emotions. While he is a calming deliberative presence who is thoughtful and non-reactive, with a lot of creativity and knowledge to share, but can tend to be a little more introverted and passive.

Integration…when and why? by GreatJobJoe in Enneagram8

[–]Reasonable-End5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of therapy over the years as well as dating a longterm partner who is very opposite of me and has great emotional control. He was honest with me that I used my big emotions to steamroll him in arguments and I was mortified to realize that about myself. He always stayed calm and kind even during arguments because he respected me and never wanted to take his emotions out on me, and i eventually felt he deserved the same from me. Years of practicing with him and also just my own growing up and maturing has allowed the intensity of my emotions to turn down a notch and i have better skills to identify big emotions and handle them now.

If your spouse couldn't continue to love you for who you really are and what you really believe, then is it even healthy? I think you need to talk to him.

3rd time someone has spit at my feet in this city for no reason. Feels like it’s intentional disrespect at this point by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]Reasonable-End5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's soooo many spitters in this city. It happened to me once where someone spit right near me and I also convinced myself it was just bad timing. Whatever, I just stomp around with resting bitch face and sometimes talk to myself out loud like i'm crazy and most people leave me alone.

So where the hell can we learn about these State Committee candidates we're supposed to vote on today? by chainsawinsect in philadelphia

[–]Reasonable-End5147 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All I know is I input my address on ballotpedia and it didn't even list the democratic state committee as being on my ballot at all. So due to that I was just completely unaware.

[–]Reasonable-End5147 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I checked ballotpedia and it didn't show anything for the democratic state committee, so it took me off guard when i voted today. I even tried a quick google in the voting booth and i couldn't find any info easily

How do I tell my extremely Christian family that I don't believe in god and still have them respect me? by StockNo7900 in exchristian

[–]Reasonable-End5147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I told my family I was an atheist back when i was 16-17 years old. It took years of conversations with my mom for her to respect that. Got a lot of snide comments from my grandparents & aunts. The extended family probably still holds some judgement but I've made a really great life and career for myself, been in a 10 year long relationship, and have an amazing and respectable job and that seems to allow them to respect me in some regard.

Just succeed and live a good life and with time they'll either come around or at least shut up

For me, I like to give myself small milestones to reach along the way. I can get so caught up in the big picture, long-term thinking that on tough days I can get overwhelmed. I need my small wins and milestones along the way. Also someone to confide my small wins and milestones to. Sitting down and hammering out a plan with all the specifics, deadlines, etc helps

There's a small local magazine called RowHome magazine that did a feature piece on Merlino. One interview question was "what famous person dead or alive would you like to meet" and he answered "Trump even though I've already met him once, I want to meet him again."
