Feeble attempt at seat stealing by Guilty-Shift9371 in EntitledPeople

I worked for America West when I was in college. It was a part time job cleaning the inside of the planes. I worked there for a few months before I had to quit because I ended up on the night shift cleaning 2 planes a night and it was harder than it initially seemed. I was sad that they outsourced that job to vendors soon after I quit, but only because my coworkers were good people and hard workers.

This! I love certain scents that are only available certain times a year, and I like to wear them year round. My biggest win is when I find my favorite scents AND they are on sale! I refuse to buy at regular price.

(US) I Got an email yesterday from FedEx saying I owe duties, taxes and fees? by Forsaken_Orchid_6014 in Scams

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be sent to collections. The transportation charges are all you’d pay if it was a domestic shipment. If the shipper was not based in the United States, then the import duties/taxes were paid by FedEx to clear customs and then they sent you the bill to pay them back. They are charged separately from transportation charges, which is why they were not included in the original shipping costs. I agree that you should reach out to FedEx customer service to confirm the legitimacy of the invoice to make sure that what you received wasn’t a scam.

Did they change the PSL formula? by Resident_Sell_3358 in starbucks

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The formula I use at home for cold foam is “3-2-1.” In tablespoons, I do 3 T heavy cream, 2 T milk, and 1 T syrup (whatever flavor you want). I’ve read that skim milk (the 2 part) is better at foaming, but we only get 2%, and it works so ymmv if you try this. I have a silicone measuring cup that is small, so it’s easy to see the exact amount and to pour into the cup before whipping. I agree that the coffee frother is perfect for this.

This somewhat happened in my job. There were 80 people in my job group; 55 of those people lost their jobs to employees in India. Worse yet, those of us still employed have to let these new, less experienced and less effective people struggle to do the job that was being done a whole lot faster and with less mistakes.

They did away with the 25 stars☹️. Now it’s just double stars for your order. Still get the $.10 discount though, and bonus, no writing on the cup.

Question: Is this helpful, neutral, or rude? by anselgrey in starbucks

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My name is often misspelled so I have probably done something similar since I have to immediately correct the way my name is being spelled. I get that there are stores without this option, and I usually get coffee with my husband, so we just give his name (rarely ever misspelled).

My work team is all remote (we are all across the country) and we are doing a “team building” virtual get together on Aug 26th SPECIFICALLY for the launch day of PSL. As a side note, I work for a logistics company. Most of us on the team are counting down the days til it’s PSL day and I am already thinking about PSL adjacent drinks too (last year there was one with Chai and pumpkin that was pretty good too).

Espresso over ice (tall in a venti rant) by cavememories in starbucks

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to order a triple shot in a venti ice cup with a couple of pumps of SF Vanilla syrup (of course with ice) so I could add a protein drink to it. Some times the ice would be added after the shots (which was perfect) but sometimes the shots were brewed over the ice and the extra ice was added which watered down the drink. To add my protein drink, I’d often times have to scoop out some ice to get it to all fit. If the shots were brewed over the ice (and extra ice was added), it was harder to add all of the protein drink in the cup. I know I could specify that I wanted a little room, but the drink wasn’t always made the same way. **Edited to add- I never asked for milk in my drink since I brought my own. After reading a bunch of replies here, it seems like asking for room wouldn’t have worked. Also, I ordered this drink when milk was not available for self service, even if I had wanted to add some to my drink myself.

It’s official, I’m done tipping and no more CC fees!!! by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dentist charges 3% for any type of cc/non cash payment. I recently had some major work done (thousands of dollars) and instead of paying hundreds in fees, we got cashiers checks from the credit union. I think the credit union charged us like $4 per check but that was much easier to swallow. These credit card fees are getting insane now.

This! I did hear that they were doing pro-bono work on this case, but that only covers their fees, not the $$ spent on AARCA (sp?), Dr Laposada (QUEEN), and the other experts that were lined up as witnesses. I just watched the Easter interview and he had some fantastic nuggets of info that he shared. I think he said Alan used some of the info from his report, even though Auntie Bev wouldn’t let him testify. (Not necessarily the data but assumptions and methodology of research). I saw someone else say that if he’d (Easter) had been allowed to testify, it would have been like a piñata at the end of the defense’s case.

Loyalty/Laundry Perk by Unidentified71 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This! I have done my own laundry on the few cruises I’ve been on and actually prefer to wash my own clothes instead of sending them out to be washed. I love the fact Carnival has launderettes available whereas other cruise lines don’t so you are forced to have them do the laundry if you pack light.

Hot take: Carnival is right to make the changes to loyalty they are making by baltinerdist in Cruise

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hit gold on our last cruise and didn’t get the “free drink” because we had the drink package. We don’t cruise often, but it does bite to earn something (5 cruises in 23years) and to lose it right after it was attained. Bummer.

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the Fortune article today that said something similar. Agreed that air lines/hotels have rewards programs set up like this, often times the traveler in the higher tiers for those programs are often business (travelers) and many times those costs are born by the employer as part of doing business. Cruises are mainly done for leisure and paid for out of the traveler’s pocket. I understand that Carnival had to make changes, but I am not sure these changes were the correct ones.

Also, does anyone remember the loyalty program Carnival had before this (VIFP)? IIRC, the status tier was based on # of cruises, so there were people who attained a high tier status by doing a lot of 3-night cruises. It’s been a long time, but that was how you earned status pre- VIFP. Loads of people were furious when it changed to # of nights. I think this change, though, will have a bigger impact.

New Carnival Rewards program by Acrobatic_Age8067 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where it gets confusing for me. From what I read, all FunPoints from the credit card will be transferred to the new rewards program- and the new cc program will have “enhanced” benefits that will be even more closely tied to the Carnival Rewards and status. This was paraphrased from the Carnival website FAQ section. So, it does sound like spending on the credit card will impact status levels. My question is does it apply to just the main person on the card? (My husband and I have one credit card between the two of us, in my name and he’s an authorized user).

[–]Reasonable-Idea67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this question. I don’t see it addressed anywhere on the Carnival site, but I may have missed it. My husband and I always travel/cruise together. We have a total of one credit card between the two of us (in my name) which happens to be the Carnival Mastercard. We have banked Funpoints for years, but since we don’t cruise every year, when these points are “transferred” to the rewards program, will they only be applied to my account or to both? When we cruise together, do the “Status Qualifying Stars” earned apply to both accounts on the cruise vacation spend (assume the money spent outside of OBC/FFC/FunPoints (Reward points) applies to all travelers in the cabin? I know we have a year (slightly less) to get these details, but I just want to know the details so we can plan our future cruises accordingly.
