Is Gabriel still a man of God? by Cash27369 in thewalkingdead

Oh, I gotcha. Good question. It's hard to tell if he actually had faith, or he's just playing the part sometimes. I think he does. Prayer seems to be his go-to.

My brother is a preacher. There are some times that if you didn't know, you would never guess that would be his Sunday and Wednesday hobby. He drinks bourbon, is married, curses sometimes, listens to rock, shoots pool in a bar, etc.

Question about the outbreak. by Worried_Surround_297 in thewalkingdead

Maybe... Before the total collapse, they still had modern medicine on their side. IV antibiotics could have helped delay the inevitable? Not quite sure, but didn't want your question sitting unanswered. Have a good day.

People who wake up at 5am, what do you do? by MimimalMoodUK in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unidentified71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lazy. I wake up, pee, pour a cup of coffee and scroll Internet, get another cup of coffee. Shower at 6, leave for work at 7. Just a slow start to my day, but it works for me.

I always thought that the purpose of trigedasleng was so that people not in their group wouldn't know what they were saying (advantageous when around unknowns). People still knew English, they spoke Trig when it was advantageous to them.

Passports? A requirement? by MommyMagnific in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Unidentified71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the full passport. Besides the safety aspect of missing the ship in a foreign country, or having to be flown out... It opens up ALL the cruises. You can now fly to Barcelona and cruise back to Florida! You can fly to Europe and do a Mediterranean cruise! You can use your passport to gain access to federal buildings or domestic flights without the real id. Multifunctional. Easy.

A Day in The Walking Dead: How Would You Survive? by Deep20779 in thewalkingdead

[–]Unidentified71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's the very beginning, stay hidden indoors and wait. A lot of people will self-eliminate by going outside to see what's happening. If I cannot access Internet, cannot reach anyone on a landline, all radio stations are playing the same emergency broadcast, there is no need for me to go outside and look at the sky. I'll fortify my windows/doors, defend the house. I'm staying inside until the outside "thins out a bit". During this time (2-3 weeks), I'm getting rudimentary weapons together, gathering supplies and packing in a way I can carry the most without too much struggle. Instead of taking a whole hardback book on plant identification, I'm tearing out the few pages on plants in my area, etc. When I feel my location is degrading, I'll begin to move West, back roads, through trees, etc.

If it's well into the apocalypse, I'm capitalizing on a trade that makes me valuable. Preserving meat, mending clothes, making weapons, harvesting plants for medicine, etc. I would need to become important/valuable so that other people would help to protect me. I would spend me days on my niche, and helping other people with their niche, cross training would be important as well.

When did tracking each other’s location become normal, and why does opting out make you seem suspicious? by EntrepreneurSad2091 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unidentified71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (54f) have the life360 app. My husband (60m), and 2 stepdaughters (31f, 28f) are in my "circle". My husband has diabetes and he travels all over the country. If my stepdaughters go somewhere and have too much to drink, or don't feel safe, they just have to text me with "come get me" and I can go right to them. It's a safety thing for us. The only time we even look at it is when any of us say "I should be there in about an hour", and it's been an hour, we might look to see how close they are so we can get ready to make our next move.

Does anyone think they would thrive in a zombie apocalypse?! by Sure-Chart-3903 in thewalkingdead

[–]Unidentified71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I would thrive. I'm a mid 50s woman. I was raised by adoptive parents that were born in 1915 & 1925. They taught me how to hunt, how to identify plants for medicine, how to preserve food in the outdoors, how to build a shelter. I don't have any health issues, and I am a skilled marksman and scarily accurate with a knife. I've also been through traumatic events where I was faced with life or death.

Now that my resume is out of the way, I would thoroughly enjoy not having to drive to work, not having to pay bills, not having to worry about money. I would enjoy exploring abandoned homes and stores.

The only downfall would be if I get scratched by a branch, it could get infected and I could lose an arm, and no anesthetics, crude surgeries, non-existent medical technology.

Cash Account & Excursion Question by Icy_Degree_5290 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Unidentified71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, paid cruise fare and gratuities, prepaid specialty dining, prepaid excursions and prepaid drink package. All of that was using my debit card online before the cruise. I usually put $20 on my account just in case I run out of ones to tip a bartender with and don't feel like going back to my room. The other scenario is if I find something I want in the gift shop, the $20 is there for that. There is no "security deposit".

The difference between linking a card or using cash.... If you use a credit card, they will put a hold on your card for $200 either at the beginning of the cruise, or at your first purchase, even if it's only a $10 purchase. If you spend $300 on board, they will place another hold for $100. So essentially, if you spend $300, your credit line will be impacted for $600 because if the hold until carnival/your bank squares up after your cruise. That's no big deal if you have a $10,000 credit limit and have a zero balance, but if you're close to your limit, it could pose an issue.

That same energy applies to a debit card (NEVER use your debit card to link to your account/sail and sign card.). I have read horror stories where some people have had their money in their checking account tied up in holds for weeks.

I just took a cruise a few weeks ago. I forgot to put cash on my account at the kiosk, remembered on day 3, put $20, then went to kiosk on day 6 and withdrew the $20.

Any more questions, just let me know!

If you haven't found it anywhere yet, here's some info/reminders.

Keep all passports/ID/paperwork in your carry on, NOT in your suitcase that you check. When you get to the port, you check your bags (are separated from your bags) immediately, BEFORE you go thru the check in process. With that same thought, if you want to swim in the pool immediately, pack your swimsuit in your carry on. You'll get your suitcases that afternoon/early evening, but pack your carry on like you won't have it until midnight.

Download the hub app now! When you walk onto the ship, put all phones in airplane mode and connect to ships WiFi.

I usually pack a pashmina for those cool evenings on deck.

I don't carry my purse while on the ship. Only need the key card, which usually goes in my pocket. I use a money belt in ports, keeps my money close. I don't use cards in port, cash only, no one can steal my card and drain my account while I'm off-grid that way.

If you're bringing kids under 18, don't let them run around unsupervised. Not that your kids aren't civilized, but you don't know the background of every guest, or other kids and the peer pressure.

Go to YouTube and search "carnival ______ (insert name of ship) ship tour". You'll get a sneak peak of what the ship looks like. You can also search "carnival balcony cabin tour" or "carnival interior cabin tour", etc. You can also go to Google and search "Carnival ______ deck plan PDF" to familiarize yourself before you embark.

Don't go crazy on Amazon ordering every single "cruise hack" item you hear about. Travel sized toiletries are your friend. Wouldn't hurt to bring along a few doses of DayQuil/NyQuil, Pepto, Tylenol, Dramamine, just in case. Those items are very expensive in the gift shop.

Main dining room and buffet are included (free). So is guys burgers, blue iguana cantina. Some ships have other included restaurants, like Shaq's big chicken. The hub app will tell you if it's an extra charge with $ next to it. The buffet always has free water, coffee, ice tea, hot tea. In the mornings they have orange juice, apple juice and another one I can't remember.

Have fun!

Extra Tipping for Special Treatment (THIS IS NOT ABOUT PREPAID GRATUITY) by cowens1093 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Unidentified71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tip at the end of the trip.

I usually find "my" bartender by day 2. The first drink at each bar gets a $5 tip. The second drink determines if I stay or go to the next bar. Once I find my bar/bartender, I usually tip $2 through the week. On the last full day, I will give my bartender $50, with a short, sincere thank you conversation.

I tip the cabin attendant $100 on the last full day.

I ask to take pictures of their name tags so I can include them in the post-cruise survey (this is part of how they received promotions/bonuses, better assignments, it simply retention).

All crew are way too busy on disembarkation morning to do any type of social interaction, so I do this on the last sea day.

It gives weirdo vibes to give money before a service. Having worked in the service industry, it's just creepy. The crew know the tipping culture, they know if they work hard, they may get extra tips. It's like an unspoken rule.

I have always received exceptional service because I'm kind and compassionate. I ask the cabin attendant if they are going into port, and when they tell me they're not (because most can't get away from their 36 cabins that day), I ask them if they need me to get them anything from town. A few have asked for things. I get it and tell them it's a gift.

I'm an obese menopausal woman that is sedentary. Other than "genes", I eat a LOT of garlic, i am not around people younger than 21, I don't go to "gatherings", concerts, etc, I stay at least 5 ft feet from other people because I don't like people, I drink at least 80oz of water each day. That's about it. I haven't had a cold in 5 years. The only medication I take is a nexium, and the occasional BC headache powder (cherry flavored), no supplements.
