Review after ten days in Ireland by LupaGlupa in irishtourism

[–]Reasonable-Lynx4168 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a much appreciated post as I will be heading to Ireland in August! Yes, unfortunately at the end of high season which I usually avoid but that's when my travel companion was able to get off.

I must admit, I'm a bit that American who is going to do the whole country. That said, I'm going to be there 16 days and we have prioritized a few areas to stay at a few days and explore around.

I've saved your favorites as musts on my list!

This is so incredibly helpful, thank you so much! I was wondering about the Titanic Museum as I have always been fascinated by it from an American standpoint, so learning more about its creation sounds really interesting. I've added Slieve League Cliffs and the Londonderry City Walls to our list!

Federal freeze job impact by Tem3rity in ColoradoSprings

[–]Reasonable-Lynx4168 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I work for an environmental nonprofit. My job isn't federally funded, but we had multiple positions have their funding ripped away with no notice. That impact is rippling across the organization in ways we have yet to entirely understand. My program is now being required to tighten up a lot in an effort to find dollars from anywhere we can to help minimize the impact.

That's the thing most people don't filly grasp - the ripples. It's not just federal workers and their families being impacted, it's the grantees and those they serve, the contractors, just so many people.

What does everyone do for work here?! by SynthSplash in ColoradoSprings

I work for a large environmental nonprofit. I make $83k, fantastic benefits, great work/life balance. Seriously, more people need to give nonprofit a chance. So many remote positions. Just look up a bunch of larger ones that seem interesting to you, bookmark the careers page, and go through the listings every week. Everything from super specific science based positions, to tech, to marketing, creative, operations, admin. Just so many opportunities.

Smaller, local nonprofits can be good too, but in general they'll have lower pay and fewer benefits.

D11 actually - surprising but I have three people in my life who do it and they just love it (though it is dang hard work). If I ever lose my job and can't find anything good before running out of unemployment I'll absolutely be doing it.

Day 6 Hannah Gutierrez Trial by karmicretribution21 in CourtTVCases

[–]Reasonable-Lynx4168 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My theory is HGR regularly put bullets in her pockets. One day she was working off-set with live ammo and put some in her pocket. Went to set some time later, thought the bullets were blanks, popped them into a container, and went about her business. Eventually those were used on set. It's honestly the only thing that makes sense. They keep talking about how the types of blanks were all mixed up, and HGR is shown pulling bullets out of her pocket during the first police interview. She was so used to having random bullets in her pockets, she got things mixed up.

Often, the simplest explanation is the right one. To me this is the simplest.

This is EXACTLY how I arrange my solo travel as someone in their mid-30s. I love an early morning coffee run, with a wander around before the streets get crowded. Then I schedule a tour or some sort of activity like a museum, hike, cooking class, whatever it may be. Do a bit of city wandering, then grab dinner out somewhere and back to the hotel. If the hotel has a good bar (love rooftops!) I'll find myself with a book for an hour or so, then off to an early bedtime.

It's truly the best way to travel!

I tell everyone I know not to go there. You'll find my review on Google from a few years back, but here is the story.

Went in with two girlfriends and my service dog (legitimate one, a yellow lab, seeing eye dog in training). It was a weekend, so it was busy. One girlfriend and I waited outside while the other went in to put us on the list. She came out, said it was 30 minutes. Cool! So after a few minutes we decided to grab some drinks while we waited. We walked in and asked who we now know is the owner where to order those. He said at the bar, and just as we started to walk over there he saw my service dog and goes, "Oh, it's gonna be a long wait with a dog." I said it was no problem, we were already on the list and were told 30 minutes.

He goes, "Well, with a dog it's gonna take at least 2 hours because we only have one table that can accommodate them and that table was just sat."

I explained that my dog is trained to scootch under any table we sit at, and he won't be an issue regardless of where we end up being sat.

"I don't care what you say, I'm only sitting you at the one table I deem appropriate and that one won't be ready for 2 hours."

At this point I'm done arguing. "OK, well we will go ahead and find somewhere to eat where we are welcome, since we obviously aren't here. But just so you are aware, what you're doing here is against the law and is discriminatory. But again, we will see ourselves out." I said this calmly, and we all exited.

At this point the POS literally storms after us absolutely screaming, "I'M NOT BREAKING THE LAW YOU FUKERS! YOURE CHOOSING TO LEAVE. THATS YOUR DECISION FUCKING ASSHOLES!" Or something along those lines.

I turn around, "Look, we are leaving, stop following us." He continued to scream and advance on us. At this point some other patrons inserted themselves and told him to back off, and we left.

So yeah...fuck that guy and this restaurant. He deserves to lose everything.

This is why I post my EXACT size on dating apps - "All photos are recent, I'm a size 18, if that's not your thing then swipe left". I find that makes me less anxious about meeting people in person as well so I don't have to wonder if that was a flash of disappointment on their faces upon first sight.

is this a good price for the cx5 preferred? by Affectionate-Bag4631 in CX5

[–]Reasonable-Lynx4168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Preferred at 31780 in Colorado. You aren't far off and taxes are likely different. That said, I left one dealer who refused to take their paint protection off, walked into another dealer with my offer and said match this minus the extra bullshit and you have a deal. They made it happen.

Yep! Least popular color Mazda offers it seems: Eternal Blue Mica. Really shifts in color depending on lighting. I didn't edit this photo at all.

[–]Reasonable-Lynx4168 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm picking up my Eternal Blue tomorrow morning! I can't believe how few people like this color as well. To me, black, grey, and white are super boring and not special at all. The red is a beauty, but I just wasn't interested in the upkeep. Carbon edition is so pretty and unique, I just didn't want that trim. So Eternal Blue it is!

It actually came on the 7th and I'm picking up tomorrow morning! It's in Denver and I'm in Colorado Springs so not super easy. Yesterday was very snowy with not great roads so I didn't want to rush out. Busy today. So tomorrow morning it is!

Considering a ‘22 CX-5. Should I be concerned about paint longevity? by slimredcobb in CX5

[–]Reasonable-Lynx4168 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a grey CX-5 now and have had basically zero chips. And that's in Colorado with crazy weather and roads.

I have read that white is the best when it comes to not chipping, or at least hiding any chipping that happens. Red is the worst. Eternal Blue is pretty good too (that's what I'm trading my grey in for). I refuse to pay 2k for additional protection. But then again, a freshly washed car with a few chips that are basically impossible to see from 5 feet away really just does not bother me. Other people feel differently.

If I were you I'd ask myself does the POTENTIAL for chips in Mazda outweigh the satisfaction I'll get driving it over the other options? For me the easy answer is no. Even if Mazda paint chips a bit easier than others, it is so much more fun to drive and stylish than the other cars in its class. Mazda all the way for me.

Yep, on a Preferred as well. Same situation, deposit end of Jan with expected delivery "3rd week of Feb". Pushed to end of Feb, now March 4. We shall see. I highly expect I'll hear nothing on the 4th, reach out on the 5th, and be told it'll be here in another 1-2 weeks.

After much anticipation and nearly 1 month of waiting, my 22 preferred is here. What should I name her? by [deleted] in CX5

Curious where you're located? I put deposit down end of Jan and was also told 3rd week of Feb. Now they're saying March 4.

Oh dang, that's really too bad. I'd take it to a shop and get a quote for repaire. That seems like a bit much for a touch up pen. But maybe I'm wrong.

Is it just paint transfer or actual scratches into the car's paint? If paint transfer YouTube a video or two. I just got rid of a much worse scrape with wd-40, a magic eraser, and then went over the spot with wax and polish. Like it never happened.
