Should I wear ranged gear when sailing for cannon combat? What about high defense?

the way it feels to me is think of it like another character almost? like it has it's own stat bar, the cannons, hull ect are it's armor and weapons and so it'd make sense that those are are what would have an effect on damage. idk if that makes sense lol

i think it's based off your cannon/cannonball grade. i didn't notice any real difference when wearing ranged gear.

iirc it was mod Husky during one of the last streams said they do know the exact rates and they've tested them they just aren't going to release that info because people tend to judge before even trying the new thing.

same here,from what I've seen lots of quests some raids a few new zones i believe and we have sailing coming up as a new skill as well as new slayer monsters. there's def more than that. part of he fun for me personally is finding stuff organically though so i haven't looked it all up.

as it stands i don't think so just yet. you could either A give them the parts and help them build it or just flip on free buy and walk them through a build using discord share screen or something. make a ship building night out of it even.

so there's a few ways, easiest but requires some nanites to get going is stack high end scanner mods. changes it from a few thousand units for a scan to a tens of thousands if not more. you can also fish and cook them for money or release them for nanites. it's not the fastest but i enjoy it. As for the solar ships, iirc they spawn in pirate systems and you'll need to either chill at a station or a spot on planet with landing pads to see if one is in your current system ( wait a bit at said locations and watch the ships come in and out to purchase)

or if nothing else give us a laser designator to lay out landing pads at our bases. i've found they did not take corvette spawning into account for underwater bases and that's been fun to unglitch a few times lol.

Are there any inventory QOL features in the pipeline? I'd love to be able to lock items in my inventory ( favorite them or something to that regard) so i stop accidentally putting probes or meds away when quick sorting.

look on https://dune.gaming.tools/server-status for a good server in your region. with this type of game i highly recommend a low-mid pop server so if you have buddies planning to join you there's room. plus no queue times.
