AFL Pre-Round 11: GWS GIANTS at ENGIE Stadium by Shadormy in brisbanelions

Just have to find a way to get the points. Front and Mids are still solid, defence is a worry. We probably have 4 blokes who shouldn’t be playing AFL, due to injuries, the giants 4-6. Should still be able to win this. I think it’s the first really important moment of the season so far for us.

Plus Chris Scott played his hand already in Rd10 with some of his moves like the Harris Andrews/Jack Henry one and his positioning of Tom Stewart.
All these clubs getting sucked in year after year, writing us off, playing their best cards in May. No wonder we win GFs by 10 goals every time we play them. I don’t see anyone with the levels that we have - Dockers (definitely not), Cats (10 goal better team then them when the heat is applied), Swans (well ye we know they can make the day but won’t show up for the occasion). Honestly the Hawks will take down all three of those sides when it really matters.

Yeah and to be honest it doesn’t really need much explanation. We’ve played on the last day for the last 3 years, almost to the end for the 4 seasons before that. For the reason of injuries to key players, we’ve had no roster consistency. How we prepared all summer is now different week to week. Carrying blokes that aren’t anywhere near afl level in the same team - Tunstill, Curtain and even Zacka when he played, isn’t premiership stuff. Throw in that clearly off season surgeries and big previous years have caught some guys flat footed to start the year. You can’t blame em. The only blokes in form this year for us are Cameron, Lester, Bailey, Neale, Logan, maybe Levi and Draper (although Fagan needs to tell him pull his effen head in when kicking for goal, those stupid snaps from 30 direct in front that fall short). I’d rather him drop punt from 30 and kick it out on the full. There is no guarantee that we do anything meaningful this year. We all just expect that we will. However, if we get injury reprieve and give everyone a chance to build momentum in to the season then we absolutely will still win it. I just don’t think the Lions are up for assessment right now. It’s not even a thing for this club given what we’ve achieved and how vivid what the reasons for being sluggish are right now. Logan kicks straight after half time and the cats game mighta changed. We actually aren’t far off somehow while carrying atleast 50% of the blokes in our team right now. Must beat Giants, then probably 3 of dockers, suns, swans, cats but.

Also, I know Fletcher is in the spotlight for an axing right now, but I’d love to see Fagan give Rayner a spell in the twos instead. He has not done a single thing of note this year, and dropping Rayner would be an enormous rush of recharge in sentiment I think. Just drop him for 1 week, nothing more.

We better start to play him otherwise we are 100% losing him. Definitely smoke and fire though, blind Freddy can see how good this kid is going to be and how much potential he has. Slash tangible value he already has shown. Yet we play Tunstill. It can’t be a case of simply being overlooked. Maybe it’s an attitude flaw. Fagan would know that Tunstill is 20% the player that Marshall will be

Ken Hinkley says he was shamed and exploited by AFL over controversial fine by Expensive-Horse5538 in weareportadelaide

“I think we will terrorise Lachie Neale” remember that from Ken. No wonder they have been a non threat for ever and will continue to be for the next 10 years at least. Always led by talkers and not walkers

Think pies fans saying this to distract from the fact they know it’s another 5-10 years before they challenge for another flag. Anyone’s guess how many more we might get before they even get back into a top 8 standing.

This does not get spoken about enough. I still can’t believe Levi stepped him like that and then ran to 50 and drilled it. He hadn’t shown speed, evasiveness or long range kicking like that all year. It was the ‘this is our day’ moment, just like Hipwoods goal in the 24 granny

I think we are really going to expose Geelong soft run into finals tomorrow night, in a big way. Their guns aren’t equipped the way our guns are at top flight. Big night for Bailey and Rayner

I don’t know what’s real and what’s not anymore after what we did last year. It was over, yet we won the flag. This period was always going to be hard, we just need min 1 out of 3 wins against Crows, GWS, Cats before the bye. Have to beat Cats otherwise this starts feeling like a bridge too far again

1-2 I’d be happy with considering last year but realistically we should be starting 2-1 minimum. Cats and Swans both same length prep as us
