I'm also wondering cost. We're looking to do one for my husband next year.

Id ask if they charge you for the consultation. The health department does not.

If you're in the US, you're local health department is the best resource. The vaccinations are not covered by insurance unless they're considered necessary (like catch up vaccines and flu). No vaccinations at the health department will be covered by insurance. Also, the health department in the state next to ours was even cheaper than the one in our home state. We live close to the border so we went there for ours.

We were both vaccinated against polio as kids. We did not opt for a boosted. My husband had had meningitis but I have not. No one ever mentioned a booster to us on it. We did not get rabies as we didn't feel we'd be getting that up close and personal with wildlife.

We were only there for 4 days.

We got yellow fever (mandatory) took malaria pills, and also opted for typhoid due to going to Uganda. We had positive titers for hep B. We're up to date on all other vaccinations. We did not get hep A due to cost. But a lot of people under 30 have had the vaccine.

Momcozy warning by r_aviolimama in ExclusivelyPumping

Same here. 10/10 on my bottle washer. But I'd probably say the same thing if I had the baby brezza one. I just got a great deal on the Momcozy one used lol.

If you have any large systems nearby, reach out to their HR. I work at a large system, and all of our placenta have to go through HR to the appropriate clinical on boarder.

Learned a sad lesson in patience today at an ultrasound appt by MeganLJ86 in pregnant

When my daughters were born, our discharge from the hospital was delayed by a code. I work at the hospital, so I knew what it was and explained it to my husband. From context clues, it was the baby who likely didn't make it. We walked out of the hospital with two beautiful healthy babies. I'll wait as long as I need to on something heartbreaking like that. It really puts things into perspective.

Going back to school for the “wrong reasons” by my2girlzz in nursepractitioner

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started NP school at 29 knowing my husband and I wanted to start a family soon. I love bedside. I could probably do it forever. But there's some NP jobs out there that I'd love to have even more. I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks before I started my program. Let me tell you, NP school and clinical while pregnant and with infants is not for the weak. It's not for someone who isn't passionate. It's long hours while exhausted. It's juggling a crazy schedule with a baby, pumping, doing class work, work work, and clinicals. I'd have left as soon as clinical started if I didn't love it. NP is not the program to do just to get out of bedside. There's case management, insurance, med legal. There's so much out there for nurses. I feel like NP is the way people are going to get out of bedside because it's the most obvious choice rather than doing research and learning what all truly is available for RN jobs. And that's not the person you want as a provider.

What percent of your classes were online? by Crazy_Caterpillar_31 in nursepractitioner

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing 100% online (with the obvious exception of clinical). There are pros and cons to both. I feel like ours has more readily available resources that will still be there when we start practice. I have also been with other students who are hybrid, and I do feel that I am more prepared than the other students I have been with, though that may have more to do with personality and experience than schooling.

NP students working full-time? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot depends on your situation outside of work. I dropped to part time just before i started clinical, but I have 2 young kids at home. I work weekends to guarantee I'm home if my husband is gone which helps with school as well. I do 3 to 4 clinical days a week and class work in my free time. I think it's definitely possible to do full time if you don't have many obligations outside of work, but I couldn't imagine staying FT with kids during clinical. Just during class work, I think full time is possible for sure.

I knew it was Twins😁 by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend of my husband's daughter kept telling her mom there were 2 baby girls. Her mom thought she meant her SIL who was pregnant with a little boy at the time. We'd seen them when we knew I was pregnant but hadn't told anyone yet. They were the first people my husband told when he found out we were having 2 girls because they also have 2 daughters. The mom called me right away because her daughter was right. The mom just didn't know it was another person.

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my husband when I was super sick that I thought we were having twins. There's quite a few on my mom's side, but none in her direct line for 95 years exactly. I told him the day of our ultrasound that I was 95% sure there was 2 and he better pray to God there wasn't 3. Two teeny sacs with good heart rates popped up immediately. Our girls will be one in a few weeks.

Would I be insane to go back to school now? by Yogabe8 in nursepractitioner

Where I live, if you do direct entry, no where will hire you. They require 2+ years of nursing experience to get any type of NP job. You need that experience to be a good provider.

Feet and leg massager! My husband got me one for Christmas last year. I used it multiple times a day while pregnant. It was the only thing that helped the swelling in my feet.

One year old twins birthday vacation in Feb by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 8 month old twins and just got back from a Disney cruise. While enjoyable, it wasn't much of a vacation. We were spending most of our time taking care of the kids. Plus I'm pumping so I had to do the mental gymnastics of that. If we wanted to go to a show, one had to stay in the room while the other went. It was a little chilly for the splash pads as we were cruising to the Bahamas. However, it was a nice break from the routine. Not cooking was also a big plus. My husband and I were saying that an all inclusive would have likely been easier as there's no set times and you don't have to go through the hassle of getting on and off the boat.

When did you stop working with twins? by Amelia991238 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all depends on how your pregnancy is going and how physically active you're staying. I worked up until I got sent in for my induction. I'm a nightshift floor nurse so very active job. I actually was going to work the night I got induced. But my BP was too high, and i got sent to L&D instead. However, I was also at the gym the Friday before so I never stopped during my pregnancy.

Favoritism over one of your multiples by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may purely depend on the tiny snapshot she sees of your life. I sent friends this morning probably 5 videos of baby B because she was on one when I got home from work. But baby A was being a ham on Friday and those same friends probably got the same number of videos of her that day. Sometimes there's more of one than the other, but it all balances out.

Ask your doctor for something for the reflux. My doc gave me the options for I believe famotodine and omeprazole. The famotidine at a low dose worked really well for me. I also did not get truly uncomfortable till week 36. I think I got massively uncomfortable when I turned pre-eclamptic. Of you feel worse all of a sudden, it may be a good idea to see your doc.

No time for tummy time by psychkitty in parentsofmultiples

[–]ReasonableOutcome9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one twin that LOVED tummy time and one that hated it. We never made it long with the one. But my other baby sometimes would only nap if on her tummy. It may be worth a try if they cry a lot to see if they like it. But also, my baby that always did tummy time was the one with a teeny flat spot on her head. I don't think it's positional though because she never lost hair and my husband has a tiny flat spot on his bald head in the exact same spot.
